Draft Scout Snapshot: A closer look at the Titans' picks: Round 5/142 - Lavar Edwards, DE, 6-4, 270, LSU...The Titans needed help in the pass rush, and it was expected to come earlier with a player like Dion Jordan or Barkevious Mingo. Instead, the Titans land Mingo's backup, Edwards, who has nice size and potential of his own. His speed as a rusher is the big attraction, and the fact that he is strong enough to play the run will make him have a chance to contribute. - The Sports Xchange

03/29/13 - 2013 LSU Pro Day: Defensive end Lavar Edwards stood on several of his marks from the combine but was able to improve his 40-yard dash (4.78) and bench press (21 reps). Although he hasn't received the same attention as the Tigers' other pass rushers like Mingo and Sam Montgomery, Edwards is very much in the top-100 discussion. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com
03/29/13 - 2013 LSU Pro Day: Lavar Edwards, DE (6-3 7/8, 268) - He looked very good in positional drills and weighed 8 pounds less than he did at the NFL Scouting Combine. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.77 seconds twice. He also recorded a 32-inch vertical and a 9-foot broad jump. - Gil Brandt, NFL.com
12/26/12 - LSU senior defensive end Lavar Edwards doesn't get the publicity, draft attention or the playing time of his more celebrated position mates Barkevious Mingo and Sam Montgomery. But they probably won't equal what Edwards has done.

Edwards, a native of Gretna who played for Desire Street Academy, last week received an invitation to play in the 2013 Senior Bowl in Mobile on Jan. 26, LSU sports information director Michael Bonnette confirmed. The Tigers are preparing to play Clemson in the Chick-fil-A Bowl in Atlanta on Dec. 31.

Edwards, who is 6 feet 5 and 258 pounds had one of his better seasons in a reserve role, although he started six of the Tigers' 12 games. He had a career high 4.5 sacks and seven tackles for loss with three quarterback hurries and his second career interception, on which he returned the ball 23 yards for a touchdown against Idaho. His sack total was second behind Montgomery with seven.

In his career, Edwards has played 51 games with 15 starts with 10.5 sacks among his 93 tackles. In addition to end, he also plays nose tackle in the LSU Bandit package. - Jim Kleinpeter, The Times-Picayune
