Draft Scout Snapshot: A closer look at the Dolphins' picks: Round 3/78 - Michael Egnew, TE, 6-5, 252, Missouri...He's been a productive seam threat tight end during his career at Missouri, catching 147 passes for 1,332 yards and scoring eight touchdowns, most of which came in his two seasons as a starter. But fellow Tigers tight ends like Martin Rucker and Chase Coffman have fallen short of matching their college productivity. - The Sports Xchange

 Draft Scout Michael Egnew News
12/24/12 - TE Michael Egnew was active for the first time all year and played eight snaps with zero targets.
12/24/12 - TE Michael Egnew was active for the first time all season but did not have a catch.
12/12/12 - TE Michael Egnew has been inactive for all 12 games this season and the rookie third-round pick is by far the biggest disappointment on the team this year. Though many fans expected him to be Ryan Tannehill's big red zone target this year, Egnew has disappointed with his inability to learn how to block or to master the complex playbook. Even with the Dolphins' season over at 5-8, don't expect to see Egnew suit up this year. "When they say he's available, so be it," offensive coordinator Mike Sherman said of his bosses. "The consistency has to be a part of his game and that's what we're looking for from him. He hasn't 100 percent shown that consistency just yet in practice. He shows signs of greatness every once in a while, but you want to see it a little bit more often."
12/10/12 - TE Michael Egnew, a rookie third-round pick, has been inactive for all 13 games, and doesn't look like he will see the field in his final three games. "It's really a question that I think Coach (Joe) Philbin and (general manager) Jeff Ireland have to answer," offensive coordinator Mike Sherman said. "I'm focused on the guys we have. When they say he's available, so be it. He's had some really good days in practice. (He) made a couple great catches last week actually on scout team, but the consistency has to be a part of his game and that's what we're looking for from him.
10/22/12 - TE Michael Egnew, the Dolphins' third-round pick, hasn't played in a game this season because of his limitations as a blocker. Offensive coordinator Sherman has been ultra critical of the Missouri product, even saying on HBO's "Hard Knocks" series that he'd cut him despite his draft status, but it appears the offensive coordinator is past the tough love period. Now he's being more encouraging. "I think he's making progress. I really have been on him pretty good since he's been here, and I think it's been recently I've been fairly complimentary of him, how he practices, how he's developing," Sherman said.
