 Draft Scout Mike Glennon News
02/14/18 - QB Mike Glennon's time in Chicago could be winding to a halt, per a published report. Glennon was signed to a three-year, $45 million contract by the Bears less than one year ago with the initial plans to be the team's starter. Chicago, however, elected to select fellow quarterback Mitchell Trubisky with the second overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft. "The writing is clearly on the wall that Glennon will not be playing in Chicago next season," ESPN's Jeff Dickerson said.
09/29/17 - QB Mike Glennon connected on 21 of 33 passes for 216 yards but had three turnovers (two interceptions) in Thursday's 35-14 loss in Green Bay. Bears coach John Fox wouldn't rule out replacing Glennon with first-round pick Mitchell Trubisky. "We need to make a lot of changes," Fox said. "We will evaluate everything, and we've got a lot of work to do here before we line up against Minnesota on Monday night (Oct. 9). We are going to look at everything."
09/25/17 - QB Mike Glennon found Adam Shaheen open in the end zone on a 2-yard touchdown pass with 43 seconds remaining in the second quarter. Glennon finished 15 of 22 for 101 yards, one interception and one touchdown.
09/18/17 - QB Mike Glennon's Bears were thrashed 29-7 on Sunday by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the team where he played his first four NFL seasons. Glennon committed three of Chicago's four turnovers, leading to a pair of Tampa Bay touchdowns. Overall, Glennon was 31 of 45 for 301 yards, numbers that appeared more than respectable. Both Bears head coach John Fox and Bucs head coach Dirk Koetter praised Glennon's persistence in the face of mistakes and several dropped passes. But that couldn't stop renewed talk of a quarterback controversy in Chicago. After Fox made his opening postgame statement, he was peppered by four consecutive questions about Glennon's status and whether he considered a switch to rookie Mitchell Trubisky, the NFL draft's second overall pick. Fox reiterated that Glennon is his quarterback. "We have to get better as a football team," Fox said. "That wasn't the Mike Glennon Bears. That was the Chicago Bears. It was our whole team. "I haven't looked at all the stats and all the exacts, but there were a lot of people who had their hand in it and we'll leave it at that."
09/10/17 - QB Mike Glennon was serviceable in his Bears' debut and will remain ahead of top draft pick Mitchell Trubisky on the quarterback depth chart for at least another week -- and probably a lot longer than that. Glennon completed his first five passes and finished 26 of 40 for 213 yards and a touchdown. His passer rating was 86.8. However, the Bears' passing game frequently looked tepid as Glennon snapped a slew of safe, dink-and-dunk passes rather than stretching the field. "I thought the guys responded pretty well to him," Bears head coach John Fox said. "It wasn't always smooth. Like all opening games, they aren't oiled up really well. You have a lot of new people. In our case, we had our quarterback's first time in the offense. I think he operated the team very well."
