Draft Scout *Dorian Graham News
03/08/12 - Syracuse Pro Day: Jones’ teammates can thank him for the big turnout of scouts, general managers and several position coaches – 37 sets of eyes in all. Last year’s workout brought 26 team scouts. “It was a very good day. One of the biggest days we’ve had in a long time,” said Will Hicks, the SU assistant athletics director for athletic performance who ran the pro day. “All of our kids performed well.” Jones said Hicks told him it was the biggest turnout at an SU pro day since 2002, when another defensive end, Dwight Freeney, helped make himself a first-round choice of the Indianapolis Colts. Aside from Jones, who Hicks said was “exceptional in position work” at linebacker and defensive end, several players who didn’t get Combine invites opened some scouts’ eyes. Hicks said receiver/kick returner Dorian Graham, a junior who is skipping his senior season to try his luck in the NFL, had a vertical jump of 41 inches. And redshirt senior cornerback Kevyn Scott did 22 repetitions on the bench press with 225, which Hicks said is good for a defensive back. “They made some noise today, and now there’s a lot of talk about them,” he said. - Nolan Weidner, The Post-Standard
