Drills were performed on the game field. Five teams showed up to watch 10 Ohio players and a handful of other players from small schools. 01/09/13 - Former Ohio right guard Eric Herman started 51 consecutive games in the trenches for the Bobcats through four seasons. Now, the Oregon, Ohio native who has earned the nickname “Iron Man” has been given a golden opportunity to showcase his talents in front of representatives from all 32 NFL teams.
Herman attached an invitation to the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine on his Twitter and Instagram accounts earlier today along with the caption, “For those that didn’t know, I am very blessed to have this opportunity.”
This past season, Herman earned First Team All-League honors from sportswriter and analyst Phil Steele and Second Team All-Conference honors from the Mid-American Conference. He helped pave the way for redshirt junior running back Beau Blankenship, who set Ohio’s single-season rushing record with 1,604 rushing yards. Herman rebounded from an elbow injury suffered against Kent State to start in Ohio’s Independence Bowl victory over Louisiana-Monroe on Dec. 28. - Pat Chiesa, WOUB
