Draft Scout Eric Herman News
09/23/14 - OL Eric Herman was signed to the Giants practice squad. Herman had been waived by the team last week after returning from an NFL-imposed suspension
09/20/14 - OL Eric Herman was waived by the Giants Friday (Sept. 19). He had been reinstated from the suspended list earlier in the week.
09/18/14 - OL Eric Herman isn't counting against the roster after being reinstated from reserve/suspended Wednesday. Herman was granted a roster exemption that expires Friday.
08/29/14 - OL Eric Herman (knee) had X-rays after the game, his tests coming back negative. Herman will not be part of the initial 53-man roster as he will need to serve a four-game league-imposed suspension for violating the league's policy on PEDs.
08/09/14 - G Eric Herman has been suspended without pay for the first four games of the regular season for a violation of the NFL's performance-enhancing drug policy, the league announced Friday.
Herman will be eligible to return to the Giants' active roster on Friday, Sept. 26 following the team's game against the Washington Redskins. Herman is eligible to participate in all offseason and preseason practices and games.
"The NFL requires a therapeutic use exemption (TUE) for permission to take certain medications," Herman said in a statement. "I have a TUE for one medication, but not another stimulant that treats the same condition. Unfortunately, a stimulant for which I don't have a TUE was in my body, and the rules are very strict, so I am taking responsibility and I sincerely apologize to my teammates, coaches and the club. This won't happen again, and I will spend the four weeks working hard to be ready to return to work."
Herman, who was a seventh-round pick from Ohio last year, spent most of the season on the practice squad. Herman is the third Giants player who has drawn a suspension this offseason. Cornerback Jayron Hosley drew a four-game ban in June for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. Safety Will Hill was also suspended, and he was subsequently released.
