Draft Scout *Chandler Jones News
08/11/16 - OLB Chandler Jones has been drawing praise from just about everyone in Cardinals' camp, including general manager Steve Keim, who recounted a recent conversation he had about Jones with another Arizona player. "Jared Veldheer actually thanked me the other day for bringing in Chandler Jones," Keim said, referring to the Cardinals' left tackle. "Sometimes you don't think about, Chandler Jones was brought in to make our defense much better, but Jared Veldheer told me in six or seven years of playing in the NFL he's never practiced on a daily basis with a guy as talented as Chandler Jones, so that's making him better. So sometimes it's that double-edged sword that you don't think about. Not only does he make our defense better, he's making Jared Veldheer better on a daily basis. So competition creates success, in my opinion."
05/24/16 - OLB Chandler Jones revealed an interesting tidbit during OTAs when he talked about playing Madden video-game football against his New England Patriots' teammates last season. When it came time to picking a team, Jones said, "I always chose the Cardinals first. When I first got here, I went to a few guys and was like, 'Hey, I always use you on Madden.' And they were like, 'Wow, you know who I am?'"
03/15/16 - DE Chandler Jones was traded to the Cardinals on Tuesday.
A first-round pick in 2012 in the final year of his contract, Jones led the Patriots with 12.5 sacks last season. In the off week between the final regular-season game and the first playoff game for the Patriots in January, Jones was hospitalized when he was found kneeling in front of a police station asking for help. Jones admitted he made a mistake but would not confirm reports he used synthetic marijuana, which is legal in Massachusetts.
01/20/16 - DE Chandler Jones (abdomen/toe) was limited in practice again, no additional injuries listed despite leaving last Saturday's game early with a right leg issue.
01/18/16 - DE Chandler Jones started against Kansas City and played his usual reps on defense despite the medical emergency the previous Sunday a week earlier that sent him to the emergency via ambulance from the Foxborough police station. Jones did not finish the game against Kansas City, though, apparently because of a right leg injury. The medical emergency was reported to be caused by a reaction to synthetic marijuana and he apologized to the team during the week.
