04/24/13 - 2013 NFL DRAFT RANG'S GANG: C: Barrett Jones, Alabama, 6-5, 306, 5.40 (est.)...Forget the fact that Jones is still recovering from Lisfranc surgery. Forget the greater raw athleticism other linemen have demonstrated in workouts. Instead, remember that Jones has been a dominant performer at center, right guard and center against SEC competition. In football, the most important thing a player can bring is dependability. No player in this draft proved more reliable than Jones. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com
03/24/13 - 2013 Alabama Pro Day: Representatives from 32 NFL teams gathered at the pro day held at Alabama on March 13, where 10 players went through a workout held indoors on FieldTurf. Barrett Jones, G (6-4 5/8, 309) - Jones still has his foot in a boot, so all he did was get measured and execute 27 lifts of 225 pounds on the bench press. He is targeting one of the later dates at Alabama to work out. - Gil Brandt, NFL.com
03/16/13 - 2013 Alabama Pro Day: Jones, who started at four positions on the offensive line, bench-pressed 225 pounds 27 times. He had foot surgery after the national championship game in January and is still wearing a boot on his left leg. Defensive tackle Damion Square, who's also recovering from an injury, managed 23 repetitions. Jones said he's not expecting to be cleared to run until May, which leaves him relying on mostly game tape and team interviews to help his draft stock.

He won the Outland Trophy as a junior left tackle and the Rimington Award as the nation's top center last season, and isn't too choosy about where he winds up on the line. ''I'll play whatever position I'm asked to play,'' Jones said. ''If you made me choose I'd probably choose center right now because No. 1, I played there last year and No. 2, I'm kind of a control freak. I like to be in control. If we're watching TV together I like to hold the remote. That's the kind of guy I am. ''I like making the calls. I like the preparation aspect of it. But that being said, wherever they think the best fit for their team and can help them win, that's where I want to play.'' - AP Sports

03/03/13 - The way Barrett Jones sees it, time wasn't on their side. By they, the former Alabama center means the 10 Crimson Tide representatives at last week's NFL Combine, none of whom were full participants because of a variety of injuries. “People don’t realize it’s tougher for us to come here and compete in the combine because we play so late," Jones said. "We’re still not maybe as healthy as everybody else. "When you play in the SEC, you get beat up, especially when you have a lot of bowl practices and you’re playing a game that’s not 'til Jan. 7."

The vast majority of the 300+ participants had at least a two-week head start on Alabama's representatives to prepare for the annual scouting event. The players whose teams did not qualify for a postseason bowl game had an extra 45 days. "It’s tough to get back to full speed for this," Jones said.

Jones was at the top of that list, the first known Alabama scratch after it was revealed he'd practiced for and played through the BCS National Championship with torn ligaments in his foot. He probably would not have been ready for the combine even if he had surgery after the SEC Championship, and it's unlikely that he'll be able to do much at Alabama's Pro Day on March 13. Projected as a second- or third-round selection, Jones said he's moved on from wondering "what if?" “You’ve got to realize you can’t control that," Jones said. "I can’t control that I was hurt. I just have to focus on the things I can control. That’s interview well and doing all the little things right." - Andrew Gribble, Alabama Live
