04/29/13 - Broncos Sign 15 College Free Agents: Ryan Katz, QB, San Diego State...Katz played one year at San Diego State University after transferring to the school from Oregon State. He completed 99-of-163 passes with 13 touchdowns and four interceptions in 2012 for the Aztecs. -
10/14/12 - Adam Muema rushed for two touchdowns and Ryan Katz passed for two scores and ran for another to lead San Diego State to a 38-14 victory against Colorado State on Saturday night. Muema had 105 yards on 14 attempts, and Katz was 16 of 22 passing for 181 yards for the Aztecs (4-3, 2-1 Mountain West), who were not penalized in a game for the first time since 1973. Conner Smith was 18 of 22 for 165 yards and an interception for the Rams (1-6, 0-3). SDSU converted all three of Colorado State's turnovers into touchdowns, and scored another TD after the Rams gave the ball up on downs. On the first play from scrimmage in the second half, Marquise Law fumbled for Colorado State, and Jake Fely recovered for the Aztecs. Two plays later, Katz scrambled to the end zone from 11 yards out to give SDSU a 24-7 lead. After Derek Largent's interception gave San Diego State the ball at the CSU 33, Katz found Brice Butler for a 15-yard TD pass and a 31-7 advantage. Largent had two interceptions and Fely two sacks for the Aztecs, who have won seven of the last eight meetings between the teams. - AP Sports
10/08/12 - WEEK 6 MOUNTAIN WEST CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Ryan Katz, San Siego State, Senior, Quarterback, Santa Monica, Calif./Oregon State...Senior Ryan Katz accounted for five touchdowns and 247 yards total offense in San Diego State's 52-14 victory over Hawai`i. The Santa Monica, Calif., native carried the ball 10 times, rushing for 57 yards and a career-high three touchdowns with scoring runs of 27, 34 and nine yards. He became the first Aztec quarterback with three rushing scores since Kevin O'Connell had three at Colorado State on Oct. 6, 2007. Katz also threw for two touchdowns and 190 yards, extending his streak of multiple passing TDs to four games. - Mountain West football
10/07/12 - Ryan Katz ran for three touchdowns and threw for two more as San Diego State had its way with Hawaii on Saturday night, coasting to a 52-14 victory. Katz scored the first touchdown of the night off a 27-yard run. He also scored on two more runs, including a 34-yard run in the second quarter. Brice Butler scored on a 36-yard pass from Katz, and Adam Muema caught a 31-yard pass for a touchdown. Katz was 25 of 29 passing for 190 yards. For Hawaii (1-4, 0-2 Mountain West), Sean Schroeder was 14 of 28 passing for 112 yards, with a touchdown. Will Gregory had 22 carries for 81 yards and a touchdown. With 52 points, San Diego State (3-3, 1-1, Mountain West) matched its record for most points scored in a game. The previous 52 points came during a win against Portland State in 2007. - AP Sports
09/16/12 - Ryan Katz threw for 241 yards and three touchdowns as San Diego State outlasted North Dakota 49-41 on Saturday night. Adam Muema rushed for 124 yards and Walter Kazee added 105 for the Aztecs (2-1). Marcus Hendrickson connected on 27 of 50 passes for 434 yards and four TDs for North Dakota(2-1). Three TDs went to Greg Hardin, who had eight receptions for 142 yards.Hendrickson's 15-yard scoring pass in to Tyrhe Ivery brought North Dakota within 49-41 with 6:17 remaining. UND got the ball back with 1:52 left, but came up a half-yard short on a fourth down pass play at its 38-yard line, and San Diego State ran out the clock. Katz completed 8 of 11 passes for 195 yards in the first half, throwing TD strikes to Brice Butler (44 yards), Colin Lockett (37 yards) and Gavin Escobar (20 yards) as the Aztecs built a 35-20 halftime lead. Escobar finished with five receptions for 117 yards. The temperature at kickoff was 97 degrees, the hottest for a San Diego State home game since Sept. 8, 1984, when it was 93 for a contest against UCLA. - AP Sports
