 Draft Scout Mychal Kendricks News
08/24/15 - LB Mychal Kendricks was signed to a four-year contract extension by the Eagles Monday (Aug. 24). The Eagles did not release financial details, but ESPN's Adam Caplan reported the deal is worth $29 million, including $16.4 million in guarantees. Kendricks, 24, was entering the final year of his four-year, $4.29 million rookie contract, and some thought he might be traded after the Eagles acquired linebacker Kiko Alonso from the Buffalo Bills in the LeSean McCoy trade in March. But, earlier this month, coach Chip Kelly made it clear he wanted to keep Kendricks. "Mychal Kendricks is not going anywhere, I can tell you that right now," Kelly said Aug. 2. "You can write that down in ink, not pencil. He's not going anywhere." The Eagles reportedly did not want to let Kendricks go because they are concerned about the durability of DeMeco Ryans, who suffered another torn Achilles last year. Last season, Kendricks recorded 83 tackles, four sacks and three forced fumbles in 12 games.
08/24/15 - LB Mychal Kendricks and the Eagles agreed to a four-year contract extension Monday. Kendricks is one of three starting-caliber inside linebackers on the Eagles roster, along with Kiko Alonso and DeMeco Ryans. Ryans is 31 and coming off his second Achilles injury in five years.
11/12/14 - LB Mychal Kendricks is still listed on the Eagles' injury report with the calf problem that kept him out of four games. But he was a full practice participant Wednesday and will play against Green Bay.
10/27/14 - LB Mychal Kendricks, who missed four games with an MCL sprain, played for the first time since Week 2 Sunday. But he only played 22 snaps. He was used primarily in the Eagles' dime package. He hopes to be back playing full time next week.
10/22/14 - The Eagles are hopeful of getting linebacker Mychal Kendricks back for Sunday's road game in Arizona. Kendricks, who has missed four games with a calf injury, is their best defensive player. "If you get a starter back and a starter with his athleticism, it will help," defensive coordinator Bill Davis said. "Especially in the dime packages, the nickel packages. (The Cardinals) go to four- and five-wide receiver sets more than most teams we faced. So it will be a game that we've got a matchup on five wide receivers sometimes."
