 Draft Scout Carl Moore News
08/19/10 - Florida receiver Carl Moore missed the 2008 national championship game because of a back injury, missed last season following surgery and even missed several days last spring because of personal issues. All frustrating absences. All reasons to work harder. Moore, once a highly coveted junior college prospect from Roseville, Calif., has a chance to turn his career around this fall. The fifth-year senior has emerged as a starter and a leader for the Gators. He also could become quarterback John Brantley's go-to guy. "You appreciate what these guys go through," offensive coordinator Steve Addazio said. "High expectations, buildup, injuries, disappointment. They're still kids. They're young and sometimes they don't handle those things always exactly textbook, but they bounce back and they learn and they grow from it. "Carl's come back, and to me, he's come back with a great attitude, a great outlook, and I like where he's headed right now a lot." Moore was granted a medical redshirt, giving him a second shot at his senior year. "I'm definitely motivated," he said. "I'm more motivated for team success, though. I'm more concerned with us winning a national championship, especially with this being my last year. I want to go out there and try to (go out) on top." Coaches and teammates insist Moore's mind and body are where they need to be now. "Carl's had a great preseason," Addazio said. "He's really locked in right now. I'm real happy with Carl, for Carl. I think Carl's really got the right mindset and I think Carl's going to have a really good year." - AP Sports
05/11/10 - WR Carl Moore left the team for a week during spring drills due to personal issues but is back in good standing and has practiced well during the final week of spring drills. Moore, a senior, was granted a medical redshirt after sitting out all of last season with a bad back.
04/01/10 - The Carl Moore watch officially has begun at the University of Florida. The fifth-year senior receiver missed his second consecutive spring practice Wednesday and appears to be suspended from practice indefinitely. UF offensive coordinator Steve Addazio said Wednesday that Moore is sorting through ``personal issues.'' Moore was seen in the football facility Wednesday before the Gators' practice that afternoon. Addazio gave no timetable for Moore's return. The former junior college transfer from California missed the entire 2009 season with an injured back, according to Florida coach Urban Meyer. Addazio said Moore's back is not the reason he missed practice Monday and Wednesday. ``It's more personal than anything else,'' Addazio said. Moore hasn't spoken with reporters this spring despite being one of the team's veteran players. He's the only senior receiver on the roster and was considered a projected starter before this week. He hasn't participated with the team since Saturday, when he walked off the field visibly upset about something that occurred near the end of practice. It's unclear why Moore was upset. - Joseph Goodman, The Miami Herald
10/12/09 - After emerging as a go-to guy in the spring, it appeared former junior college wide receiver Carl Moore was headed for a breakout season in 2009. Now, it looks like he’s not going to play at all. The senior has been battling a lower back issue that required surgery and he appears headed for a redshirt season. “I’m worried,” UF coach Urban Meyer said at his Monday press conference. “He does have a redshirt available. He’s getting better. His attitude is tremendous. But I’m worried. There’s a chance a redshirt (for him) will show up here in the next two or three weeks.” The Gators certainly have missed Moore and true freshman wide receiver Andre Debose, who is out for the year after having surgery on his hamstring. The absence of Moore and Debose has left the Gators somewhat short-handed at wide receiver, an area where Florida is not getting a whole lot of production. But Meyer said Monday that redshirt freshmen Omarius Hines, T.J. Lawrence and Frankie Hammond Jr. are continuing to make progress and will have a chance to help out at some point in the season. The question is when? Other than senior Riley Cooper, the wide receivers have not been much of a factor through the first five games. - Robbie Andreu, Gator Sports
09/04/09 - WR Carl Moore is questionable for the season opener because of back problems.
