Draft Scout News
10/14/13 - NT Dontari Poe suffered a sprained ankle in the game against Oakland, but returned to the field and finished the game. "He's been dealing with it for a couple of weeks and tweaked it again during the game," Reid said of Poe. "He's a pretty tough character and keeps playing anyway."
09/17/13 - DT Dontari Poe is capturing a lot of attention around the league in the first two weeks, as he leads all interior defensive linemen in quarterback sacks with 3.5. Last year, the Chiefs did not have any sacks from their interior defensive line. Former general manager Scott Pioli botched many of his selections in the draft over four seasons, but grabbing Poe in the first-round of the 2012 NFL Draft may turn out to be his best decision.
"He has unusual quickness, unusual conditioning, unusual change of director for a big man," said Chiefs defensive coordinator Bob Sutton of the 6-3, 245-pounder out of Memphis. "He's done a great job to become a really great technician, to become football-savvy out there. He's done a great job."
11/15/12 - NT Dontari Poe has been limited in practices this week by a bruised knee that he suffered Monday night in Pittsburgh. Poe has started every game in his rookie season, but there's a real chance he may watch Sunday's game against Cincinnati from the sidelines.
11/13/12 - DT Dontari Poe suffered a knee injury in Pittsburgh during the Monday night game and his status for the next game on Sunday against Cincinnati is questionable.
11/04/12 - DT Dontari Poe continues to get more and more playing time as he's working in the base 3-4 defense at nose tackle and then stays on the field to rush the passer when the Chiefs go to a nickel or dime defense against the pass. The 2012 first-round draft choice has 15 tackles but no sacks up to this point.
