Draft Scout Snapshot: A closer look at the Texans' picks: Round 3/68 - DeVier Posey, WR, 6-2, 211, Ohio State...He's got a lot to learn after being suspended for 10 games last season, but he's got excellent size to go with 4.44 speed. It's a good opportunity for him because he could win the third receiver job. COULD SURPRISE: Wide receiver DeVier Posey: The third-round pick served two five-game suspensions as a senior at Ohio State. He played in the last three games. At 6-2, 211, he runs a 4.44. He had 60 catches for 828 yards and eight touchdowns as a sophomore and 53 receptions for 848 yards and seven touchdowns as a junior. There's no pressure on him to start. He'll be developed behind starters Andre Johnson and Kevin Walter, both of whom will be 31 before the season. - The Sports Xchange

Draft Scout DeVier Posey News
01/15/13 - WR DeVier Posey, who got more playing time down the stretch, suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon in his left foot with 6:31 left in the playoff loss to New England. He had three catches for 45 yards, including a magnificent 25-yard touchdown reception.
The coaches had high hopes for Posey perhaps starting next season opposite Andre Johnson, a job that's belonged to Kevin Walter for the last five seasons.
"I felt like I'd been shot," Posey said. "I'd never felt anything like that before. I kind of bounced, and it happened. I thought somebody had thrown a rock and hit me. We'll have to find the doctor to do the surgery, and I'll start my rehab as soon as possible."
If the Texans determine Posey won't be ready for the start of next season, it could affect their thinking in the draft and free agency.
"It's a big blow," coach Gary Kubiak said. "You just feel bad for the kid because I think he had put himself in a position to come back here next year and push for a starting spot.
"We're still in an evaluation process. We know he has an Achilles that has to be repaired. There are different levels of how they're repaired and whether we're talking about six months or eight months."
01/13/13 - WR DeVier Posey suffered a torn Achilles tendon in Sunday's loss to the New England Patriots, the Houston Chronicle reported. A torn Achilles is a serious injury that will require surgery, and it is uncertain whether he will be ready for the start of the 2013 season. Posey, a rookie, did not have any receptions in the first 12 games of the season, but had six catches for 87 yards in the last four regular-season games. He had three catches for 47 yards in Sunday's game before the injury.
12/28/12 - WR DeVier Posey, a third-round pick, had three catches for 46 yards in the 29-17 victory over Indianapolis two weeks ago. The coaches were hoping that was a breakout game for Posey, who left Ohio State after a junior year in which he was suspended for 10 games. But he responded with only one catch for six yards in the 23-6 loss to Minnesota. The Texans would like for Posey to go out on a high note and make a few catches against the Colts and in the playoffs to boost his confidence - not to mention theirs in him - for next season.
12/21/12 - WR DeVier Posey, a third-round pick, will get more playing time against Minnesota, according to coach Gary Kubiak. The coaches have increased his workload in each of the last two games. In Sunday's victory over the Colts, Posey had three catches for 46 subbing for starter Kevin Walter. Expect Posey to get more time in Walter's place against Minnesota.
12/17/12 - WR DeVier Posey, a third-round pick, saw his most extensive playing time in the victory over Indianapolis. Splitting time with starter Kevin Walter opposite Andre Johnson, Posey had three catches for 46 yards. He had one reception in the Texans' first 13 games.
