Draft Scout Adam Carriker News
03/04/14 - DE Adam Carriker had his contract terminated by the Redskins Tuesday with the designation failed physical.
02/26/14 - DE Adam Carriker has missed the last 30 regular-season games because of a quad injury and has a $6.5 million cap hit in 2014, but he is hopeful to be with the team this year.
"I run into people in the hall and talk, but nothing has been brought up (about the contract situation)," Carriker told espn.com. "I understand how the NFL works. (But) there's no doubt in my mind they want me around. They like a lot of things about me. They know I can play. They know I know the defense very well. Even if you bring a guy in, unless you see him in your exact scheme it's hard to know if a guy will work. They know I can do it. Plus I've been battling every day for a year and a half. I think they like and respect that. They've also seen the progress.
"It's just a matter of me getting back to full speed and getting 100 percent back to normal. Without a doubt they want me back."
08/28/13 - DE Adam Carriker (quad) was placed on reserve/physically unable to perform by the redskins Tuesday.
07/30/13 - DE Adam Carriker recorded 5.5 sacks for the Redskins in 2011, two more than he had produced during his previous three seasons with St. Louis (he was sidelined in 2009 after shoulder surgery) and Washington. However, the left defensive end tore his right quad in Week 2 of 2012, ironically against the Rams, and missed the rest of the season. The 13th overall pick in the 2007 draft was sidelined throughout this spring's practices in the wake of a follow-up surgery. But with the leg still not allowing Carriker range of motion, he had a third operation on July 25, went on the physically unable to perform list and could well miss all of 2013 as he's expected to be out four to five months.
"It just was not producing where (Adam) could get the movement in his legs that would give him a chance to play," coach Mike Shanahan explained. "So he could work with the weights but just didn't have the circulation, didn't have the movement. Hopefully, this surgery will give him the ability to have that type of movement he needs as a defensive lineman to get in that stance and have that explosion."
07/25/13 - DE Adam Carriker, offensive lineman Maurice Hurt and cornerback Josh Wilson on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list to open training camp.
Carriker is recovering from a second surgery on the quad injuy that landed him on injured reserve last September. Wilson is recovering from shoulder surgery.
Players placed on PUP to begin training camp can be activated at any time.
