Tate was first team all-conference his junior year in 2010 as a safety. He moved to a linebacker/safety hybrid role last year and had 35 tackles in four games before missing the rest of the year with a right knee injury. Tate is expected to miss the opener against William & Mary Sept. 1. The team then travels to Temple on Sept. 8 and returns home to take on Connecticut on Sept. 15.
