Draft Scout Dallas Thomas News
06/12/14 - LG Dallas Thomas, the third-round pick from 2013, moved between tackle and guard last season but he seems to have a home.
"He's a lot further ahead than he was a year ago," Philbin said. "Last year, we kind of moved him around, he played some right tackle, he played some left, he played some guard ... We wanted to give him a home to where at least he can kind of get his feet in the ground a little bit, feel some level of comfort from an assignments standpoint and technique standpoint."
11/20/13 - OT-G Dallas Thomas, the third-round pick, was active for the first time last week but played only on the kickoff return team.
04/28/13 - A closer look at the Dolphins' picks: Round 3/77 - Dallas Thomas, G/T, 6-5, 300, Tennessee...The Dolphins need to find better pieces for their zone blocking scheme, and Thomas could be a better fit at left guard than incumbent Richie Incognito. Thomas is a versatile player who started 25 straight games at left tackle for the Vols and 12 at left guard his senior season, earning second team All-America honors. He's currently rehabbing a torn labrum, but could be the Dolphins' new left guard this season. - The Sports Xchange
04/28/13 - The Dolphins used their third-round pick (77th overall) on versatile Tennessee offensive lineman Dallas Thomas, who started 37 straight games over his final three college seasons. Thomas was the Vols' starting left tackle for 2010 and 2011 and seamlessly moved to left guard in 2012 to help the coaches get a young offensive tackle on the field all last season.
Thomas likely will compete for the Dolphins' left guard spot, though he can play either tackle spot as well. It is unclear if Thomas will affect the status of incumbent left guard Richie Incognito, who started all1 16 games and reached the Pro Bowl last year, but has a salary-cap number of over $5 million this season. Thomas, though, is recovering from a torn right labrum suffered at the Senior Bowl, and might have to start training camp on the non-football injury list. "I personally made a school call there, and I love the versatility," Ireland said of Thomas. "When you see a big guy that can pull and move his feet and play guard and tackle on the left side, that's pretty unique." - The Sports Xchange
04/25/13 - DANE BRUGLER'S FINAL 2013 DRAFT BOARD: 50. OG Dallas Thomas, Tennessee (6-5, 306, 5SR)...With very good starting experience at both tackle and guard over his collegiate career, Thomas isn't dominant in any one area but plays steady and balanced. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com
