Draft Scout Jarius Wright News
10/02/15 - WR Jarius Wright (toe) took part in limited practice Friday and is listed as questionable to play at Denver on Sunday.
10/01/15 - WR Jarius Wright (hand) did not practice again on Thursday and is looking doubtful for Sunday's game at Denver. Wright is one of the team's more underrated players. He'll be missed in the slot position because his quickness, route running and deceptive speed catches defensive backs off-guard consistently. With Wright sidelined, look for rookie Stefon Diggs, a similar style of player, to get some looks on offense. If Johnson and Wright both are out, the Vikings would be down to four healthy receivers and basically forced to get some use out of former first-round draft pick Cordarrelle Patterson, a forgotten man in the offense.
09/30/15 - WR Jarius Wright (hand) was a surprise addition to the injury report. He didn't practice Wednesday.
If he and Charles Johnson (rib) can't play, look for No. 5 receiver Cordarrelle Patterson, a starter early last season, to finally get some significant offensive snaps.
09/10/15 - WR Jarius Wright signed a four-year contract extension with the Vikings Thursday (Sept. 10). The deal is worth $14.8 million with $7 million guaranteed, according to the NFL Network.
Wright set career highs of 42 receptions and 588 yards in 2014. The fourth-round pick in the 2012 draft has 90 receptions for 1,332 yards and seven touchdowns in his three seasons with the Vikings.
"Jarius has been a key member of our offense since we drafted him in 2012 and we felt it was necessary to secure his future with our organization," Minnesota general manager Rick Spielman said in a statement. "His commitment to this team, hard work and leadership in the WR room are several of the intangibles that he brings to our club on a daily basis and we're excited for his future with the Vikings."
09/09/15 - WR Jarius Wright is the undisputed No. 3 receiver ahead of former first-round pick Cordarrelle Patterson. Patterson will be given some snaps in a limited role, but Wright is the primary slot guy. He's also an upgrade from the aging Greg Jennings, who was released in the offseason. Wright has speed, quickness and is a savvy route runner in traffic.
