12/10/12 - 2012 ALL-BIG EAST SECOND TEAM (COACHES): DL John Youboty, Temple, Sr., Houston, Texas/Klein, has been selected Second Team All-BIG EAST Conference (Coaches selection) for the 2012 college football season. Youboty started all 11 games at defensive end. He was one of just seven Owls to start every game and also played on the field goal defense unit. Youboty finished the season with 42 tackles, including 28 solo stops and 6.0 TFL, a team-best five sacks, two hurries, a forced fumble, and a break-up. - Temple football
08/28/12 - Senior DE John Youboty, the younger brother of former Buffalo Bills player Ashton Youboty, will provide pass-rushing skills for Temple as both an end and a tackle in 2012. Youboty is lucky to be playing football. In the spring of 2010, Youboty pinched a nerve in the C3 vertebra while receiving a blind-side hit. He was informed by Marshall team doctors his playing days were over. Determined to resume his career, Youboty got second and third opinions from doctors in California and in Baltimore, respectively, and they cleared him to play. Youboty basically followed his old defensive line coach Sean Cronin from Marshall to North Broad Street and had 18 tackles for the Owls last season. - The Sports Xchange
07/09/12 - Top-five Temple prospects for the 2013 NFL Draft: 1. DL John Youboty (6-4, 260)...The younger brother of former Ohio State third round cornerback Ashton, John Youboty (pictured above) has the frame of an edge rusher, but plays mainly inside at defensive tackle for the Owls. He transferred from Marshall last season and showed enough in his first year at Temple to earn the top spot on this list. Youboty was a three-star defensive end out of high school and received scholarship offers from big programs like Michigan State, Nebraska and Missouri. However, he decided to enroll at Marshall to play for head coach Mark Snyder who coached his brother as the defensive coordinator at Ohio State. After redshirting in 2008, he played in every game as a back-up in 2009, recording 13 tackles and 2.5 sacks. However, Snyder was fired prior to the 2010 season and Youboty found himself lost on the depth chart under the new coaching staff. He decided to transfer to Temple in 2011 and earned a waiver from the NCAA to play right away, starting seven games last season at tackle and finishing with 18 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack and 1 fumble recovery. Youboty is playing out of position for the Owls, but works his tail off with an obvious passion for the game. He is a tad undersized to play with his hand on the ground and it will be interesting to see how Temple uses him in 2012. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com
