04/29/13 - A closer look at the Chiefs' picks: Round 4/99 - Nico Johnson, ILB, 6-2, 249, Alabama...One of the leaders of the Crimson Tide's defense in their back-to-back national championships, Johnson will have the opportunity to see a lot of playing time in the Chiefs' base defense next to Pro Bowler Derrick Johnson. - The Sports Xchange
03/24/13 - 2013 Alabama Pro Day: Representatives from 32 NFL teams gathered at the pro day held at Alabama on March 13, where 10 players went through a workout held indoors on FieldTurf. Nico Johnson, LB (6-1 7/8, 250) - Johnson ran the 40-yard dash in 4.74 and 4.75 seconds. He had a 30-inch vertical jump and a 9-foot-2 broad jump. He did a 4.38-second short shuttle and a 7.37-second three-cone drill. Johnson also went through the position drills. - Gil Brandt, NFL.com
02/20/13 - 2013 NFL Combine, Workout warriors: Although the medicals, weigh-ins and interviews all play more critical roles in a player's overall grade than his performance during athletic testing at the Combine, there is no doubt that the extraordinary athleticism demonstrated during drills can leave scouts (and the media) buzzing. This hype has helped push players up draft boards, and it will continue to do so in 2013.

On tape, Alabama's Nico Johnson is one of this year's stoutest run defenders. The 6-2, 249 pound sledge hammer seems to enjoy taking on and shedding blocks and is an aggressive, drag-down tackler. He's also a player who scouts expect to work out well, though this athleticism doesn't always translate onto the field in coverage. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com

01/23/13 - 2013 Senior Bowl, Tuesday: The first thing that stands out about Nico Johnson is that he passes the eyeball test at a big 249 pounds. The inside linebacker had a non-descript practice, not distinguishing himself as anything more than what he's been scouted as: A physical run-stopper. - Dave Richard, CBSSports.com
07/21/12 - 2012 PRESEASON ALL-SEC FIRST TEAM (COACHES): ILB - Nico Johnson, Alabama, has been selected first team All-SEC for the 2012 college football season as selected by the SEC head coaches. - Alabama football
