Head coach Marvin Lewis described Kirkpatrick as "sore" on Monday, but believed the bye week should allow him time to recover for the trip to Pittsburgh on Oct. 22.

But, the most important thing for him is that he's ready for the regular-season opener against Baltimore on Sept. 10, which would be his third straight start in an opener. "I'm just ready to crank it back up," Kirkpatrick said, according to Bengals.com. "The first week of practice I had a good practice, but they turned me down a little bit and told me I still wasn't able to do certain things. Last week I was able to get back out there and really kind of full go."
