 Draft Scout *Stedman Bailey News
12/15/15 - WR Stedman Bailey is expected to be released from a physical therapy facility in Miami Dec. 23. Agent Tony Fleming told TMZ Bailey is walking and talking and "getting back to himself." Bailey was shot in the head twice Nov. 24 while under suspension by the league.
12/14/15 - WR Stedman Bailey, who had been on a roster exemption since being reinstated from the suspended list Dec. 7, is now on reserve/non-football injury while he continues to recover from being shot twice in the head on Nov. 24. Head coach Jeff Fisher said Bailey is still in the hospital but is "improving." Fisher added, "We're hoping to get some news in the next couple days, but he's improving."
12/07/15 - WR Stedman Bailey, who is continuing his recovery from being shot twice in the head on Nov. 24 in Miami, was reinstated from the suspended list Monday. The Rams received a roster exemption for Bailey that expires next Monday (Dec. 14). The Rams are expected to place Bailey on reserve/non-football injury. Said head coach Jeff Fisher, "We'll take care of Sted - that's our intention. He comes off (the suspended list), he's eligible to play. By no means is he in any kind of condition to play right now." When asked how Bailey is doing, Fisher said, "He's doing better. Thanks for asking. It puts a smile on my face when I get to think about him and where he's at right now." Asked about his future beyond this season, Fisher said, "Are you asking is there a potential that he doesn't return to play? Yes, there is that potential. We don't know. It is just going to take some time. However, based on what he's done over the last 10 days, he may surprise everybody."
11/26/15 - WR Stedman Bailey, the victim in a shooting incident Tuesday night in his Miami hometown, underwent extensive surgery Wednesday that lasted about four-to-six hours, according to head coach Jeff Fisher. Bailey is in the hospital's Intensive Care Unit, where he is expected to be for three to five days. There were some reports the surgery lasted nine hours. Fisher said, "We're just waiting to get some more information on the specifics of the injury. There's a lot out there. There's a lot of rumors that there were two or three shots and an injury to the hip. I don't have specifics right now, but what I can tell you is that he's in stable condition. He'll be in ICU for a number of days. It's really unlikely, highly unlikely, that he returns to play this year." Bailey is currently serving a four-game suspension that began Nov. 9 for violating the NFL substance-abuse policy. Bailey was in his hometown even though players under suspension for substance abuse are permitted to be at the team facility although they are not allowed to practice. Fisher said, "He was working out down there, and I was fine with that." Police said four other people were in a car with Bailey, parked outside a home in Miami Gardens. One of the others, Antwan Reeves, was shot, underwent surgery and was listed in critical, but stable condition. The three others, including two minors, were not injured. Police also said, "The victims drove themselves to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment." Asked how tough it is to deal with a situation like this, Fisher said, "Well it's very, very difficult. Whether you're a coach or you're a father or you're a family member, anytime something like that happens, it's very, very difficult. The one thing that gave us hope last night was that we were able to get in touch with Sted at the hospital and there was a conversation that took place. So, that gave us hope that he would pull through this and this was not life-threatening. That's kind of
11/24/15 - WR Stedman Bailey was involved in a shooting incident Tuesday evening in his hometown of Miami. Bailey is currently serving a four-game suspension that began Nov. 9 for violating the NFL substance-abuse policy. Bailey was in his hometown even though players under suspension for substance abuse are permitted to be at the team facility although they are not allowed to practice. At the time of the suspension, Rams head coach Jeff Fisher said, "Very, very disappointed in his choices. He let himself down in addition to letting his teammates and this organization down. (It's) a setback for us from an offensive standpoint; a setback from a special teams standpoint. I've had numerous conversations with 'Sted.' He understands that this is his last go-around. If he wants to flourish in this league, have a career in this league, he's going to have to change his lifestyle. He's regretful." The Rams issued a statement that said, "We are aware Stedman Bailey was involved in an incident this evening. We have spoken with Stedman and he is in the hospital in critical, but stable, condition. We are gathering facts about the situation and will provide updates as we learn more." While details are emerging, NFL Media reported that Bailey was sitting in a car with family members, two young children and his cousin, who was driving, when an unidentified person pulled up and started shooting. While Bailey was said to have been shot twice in the head, his cousin was hit multiple times while protecting the children and has life-threatening injuries. He is said to be cooperating with police and will have surgery Wednesday morning. A third-round pick in the 2013 draft, Bailey was also suspended four games in 2014 for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs, but that suspension was shortened to two games by the implementation of a new league drug policy in September 2014. This season, prior to the suspension, Bailey has 12 receptions for 182 yards
