 Draft Scout *Stedman Bailey News
07/18/16 - WR Stedman Bailey, who was placed on the Rams' non-football injury list in June, will join West Virginia's staff as a student assistant coach. The 25-year-old Bailey continues to recover from gunshot wounds to the head suffered last November near his hometown of Miami, Fla. He was shot twice in the head while sitting in a car with his family. At the time, he was serving a four-game suspension for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. Bailey attended the Rams' offseason workout program but was not cleared for football activities. Last month, the Rams placed Bailey on the reserve non-football injury list so he could stay around the team while not counting against the 90-man roster. He was present for Rams' organized team activities in Oxnard, Calif., in June, helping out with the receivers and on special teams. West Virginia coach Dana Holgorsen announced Sunday that Bailey will join the Mountaineers' coaching staff. Bailey plans to enroll as a full-time student to complete his bachelor's degree in multidisciplinary studies.
03/27/16 - WR Stedman Bailey is making progress on his road to recovery four months after being shot twice in the head in a drive-by shooting. Bailey's desire is to return to the football field as soon as the 2016 season, but his status with the team remains undetermined, according to head coach Jeff Fisher. "Sted is currently in the evaluation process, seeking numerous opinions from neurologists and the like," Fisher said at the NFL meetings in Boca Raton, Fla. "Just to see if he can not only play, but continue with a rigorous physical rehab program that will put him in position to play." The 25-year-old Bailey was shot twice in the head on Nov. 24 in his hometown of Miami while serving a four-game suspension for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. Bailey recently attended the Rams' relocation informational meeting in southern California and was at the now-closed Rams Park in Earth City, Mo., working out. The Rams are set to begin their offseason conditioning program on April 18 in Oxnard, Calif. "He's been in the building," Fisher said. "We've seen him. He's doing well. He seems like the same old Sted, and he's very lucky as we've all noted to be alive. "So he's going through that evaluation process. As you can imagine, we don't think there's any history out there (for a player coming back) after the head wounds and all that." Bailey had 12 receptions for 182 yards and one touchdown in eight games last season, his third with the Rams.
03/25/16 - WR Stedman Bailey of the Rams is making progress on his road to recovery four months after being shot twice in the head. Bailey's desire is to return to the football field as soon as the 2016 season but his status with the team remains undetermined, according to head coach Jeff Fisher. "Sted is currently in the evaluation process, seeking numerous opinions from neurologists and the like," Fisher said earlier this week at the NFL meetings in Boca Raton, Fla. "Just to see if he can not only play, but continue with a rigorous physical rehab program that will put him in position to play." Bailey, 25, was shot twice in the head in a drive-by shooting on Nov. 24 in his hometown of Miami while serving a four-game suspension for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.
12/15/15 - WR Stedman Bailey is expected to be released from a physical therapy facility in Miami Dec. 23. Agent Tony Fleming told TMZ Bailey is walking and talking and "getting back to himself." Bailey was shot in the head twice Nov. 24 while under suspension by the league.
12/14/15 - WR Stedman Bailey, who had been on a roster exemption since being reinstated from the suspended list Dec. 7, is now on reserve/non-football injury while he continues to recover from being shot twice in the head on Nov. 24. Head coach Jeff Fisher said Bailey is still in the hospital but is "improving." Fisher added, "We're hoping to get some news in the next couple days, but he's improving."
