Draft Scout Deandre Coleman News
10/23/14 - DT Deandre Coleman was signed to the practice squad by the Dolphins (Tuesday (Oct. 21).
10/20/14 - DT Deandre Coleman was waived by the Dolphins Saturday (Oct. 18).
01/21/14 - 2014 Senior Bowl Tuesday...Cal's Deandre Coleman enjoyed a solid day on the interior, repeatedly pushing through Oklahoma's Gabe Ikard and Arkansas' Travis Swanson. Powerful and surprisingly athletic, the 6-foot-5, 315 pounder is position and scheme versatile, though scouts are left to question where this passionate play was throughout a disappointing senior season in the Pac-12. Ikard's quickness and tenacity will intrigue zone-blocking teams but he's struggled with the massive defenders in Mobile. Swanson has also been a bit inconsistent, though most of the struggles he's had over the first two days have come when he's lined up at guard, rather than center. Swanson starred for the Razorbacks at center, showing impressive agility and power in the pivot but at 6-foot-5, 310 pounds, he projects better to guard or even tackle in the opinion of some scouts. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com
12/03/13 - 2013 ALL-PAC-12 HONORABLE MENTION (COACHES): DL Deandre Coleman, Sr.,...Coleman was one of three Cal players to start all 12 games in 2013 and led the Golden Bears in tackles for loss and tackle for loss yardage (career-high 9.0, -27 yards), while ranking third in sacks (2.5, -4 yards) and first among defensive linemen in tackles (40). He added one pass breakup and two quarterback hurries. - Cal football
09/12/13 - Scouting the Cal run defense: The Bears have been poor against the run, and the fact that five players projected as defensive starters have already missed games may have something to do with it. A number of defensive starters will sidelined for the Ohio State game, too. Cal ranks 108th of 123 FBS teams in run defense and has yielded 5.7 yards per rushing attempt. Portland State averaged 6.3 yards per run against the Bears. Ohio State's strong rushing offense, which features dual-threat quarterback Braxton Miller and RB Jordan Hall, will provide a major challenge. The Buckeyes average 7.2 yards per rushing attempt, including 6.9 by Hall. - The Sports Xchange
