 Draft Scout Terry Hawthorne News
09/03/09 - WR/CB Terry Hawthorne entered Illinois this summer as the nation's top receiver in the Class of 2009, according to Parade magazine. But the Illini have so much talent at wideout, Hawthorne has experimented at cornerback recently. He was an all-state defensive back at East St. Louis, too, so it's not unfamiliar territory for Hawthorne.
05/13/09 - SCOUTING THE OFFENSE: This unit could be a monster. Fourth-year starting QB Juice Williams boasts the league's best receiving corps in surefire first-rounder Arrelious Benn, five-star Florida transfer Jarred Fayson, senior Jeff Cumberland and senior TE Mike Hoomanawanui. That doesn't even count a talented sophomore class and incoming freshman Terry Hawthorne, who was pegged as Parade Magazine's receiver of the year while at East St. Louis. Sophomore running backs Jason Ford and Mikel Leshoure muscled up in the offseason and should be no worse than solid.
02/13/09 - TOP RECRUITS: WR Terry Hawthorne, East St. Louis, Ill. -- Named the nation's No. 1 receiver by Parade Magazine, "Black Cat" could step right in and join Arrelious Benn and Florida transfer Jarred Fayson as big-time targets in Illinois' spread-option attack. Not only did Hawthorne, the nation's No. 58 recruit per Rivals, score 18 touchdowns on offense to lead his team to the state title, he returned four interceptions for scores and averaged more than 44 yards per punt.
