 Draft Scout Zack Martin News
12/18/14 - G Zack Martin (ankle) missed his second day of practice. The Cowboys remain hopeful he will play against the Colts. Mackenzy Bernadeau will start in his place if he can't go. It will be a game-time decision.
12/17/14 - RG Zack Martin missed practice on Wednesday with a sprained ankle. He could go Thursday. His injury is not considered serious. Mackenzy Bernadeau will start in his place if he can't play.
11/17/14 - G Zack Martin could be a prime candidate for offensive rookie of the year. He has been a mainstay on the offensive line since he was a walk-in starter at rookie minicamp. He might be the most physical of the team's dominant group of blockers up front. The issue now is whether he might hit a wall as he has played more games this season than ever before in his career. "That's certainly something that comes up with guys," coach Jason Garrett said of the rookie wall. "I think as much as anything else, what we try to focus on is trying to help our team deal with the length of the season. We try to do that with how we handle practice and some of the other things. He does act like a mature guy. He acts like a veteran player, and has from minute one. You certainly try to keep an eye on those guys, but you try to do that with your whole team, try to make the right decision logistically how you practice, how you do different things down the stretch so you can play well."
09/19/14 - G Zack Martin (foot) is probable for Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams.
09/11/14 - G Zack Martin is further along as a rookie than C Tyrone Frederick was last season. Martin was a walk-in starter after being picked in the first round of the 2014 draft just as Frederick was last year. But that's where the similarities end, according to Frederick himself. "I think he's in a better spot than I was when I was a rookie after my first game," Frederick said. "I would say he's probably at least to where I was halfway through the season. You can tell that he's ahead and he's going to be a really good player." Frederick said Martin is just a natural. "During camp last year I was always falling over on the ground," Frederick said. "I was on the ground, off balance or I was playing with light hands or things like that. He's naturally more adept at some things than I was. He's put himself in a better situation to be able to handle it more quickly."
