09/09/15 - LB Barkevious Mingo hopes to play against the Jets in the season opener on Sunday. He missed the entire preseason after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery Aug. 6. He did not play in the preseason. He was limited Wednesday.
08/10/15 - LB Barkevious Mingo, the sixth pick of the 2013 draft, is recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery that probably will force him to miss the entire preseason. Mingo sustained a torn labrum in his right shoulder on the second play of the 2014 regular season. He suffered a bruised lung on kick coverage in the second game of the preseason his rookie year.
"You always (feel sorry), especially for a guy that works that hard, that is that quality a character, an individual that it's important to him and he puts the time in," Coach Mike Pettine said. "Unfortunately, you have some guys that get some unfortunate injuries but you root for guys like that to come back and play well."
12/20/14 - LB Barkevious Mingo was docked $16,537 for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton.
09/29/14 - LB Barkevious Mingo is still looking for his first sack. He missed the game against New Orleans with a shoulder injury that Pettine says is still bothering him.
"I'm pleased with where Mingo is," assistant linebackers coach Brian Fleury said. "We're asking him to do some different things than what he did last year. He's in coverage a lot more than he is going after the quarterback. I know there've been some questions as to why the sack numbers aren't there, and I think it's just simply a reflection of the amount of reps he's had rushing the quarterback relative to everybody else."
