09/07/13 - Game: Arkansas State 62, Arkansas-Pine Bluff 11...Takeaway: Nothing. ASU dismantled a poor team in Bryan Harsin's debut, but at least we do know that the Red Wolves are continuing the offensive explosion from the past two seasons with Gus Malzahn and Hugh Freeze leading the charge. An FBS-record tying four players ran for more than 100 yards David Oku (124), Sirgregory Thornton (112), Michael Gordon (102) and Fredi Knighten (101). ASU has now won nine straight games, second-best currently in the FBS. - The Sports Xchange
08/31/13 - Michael Gordon broke off a 91-yard touchdown run and Arkansas State had four different rushers with over 100 yards in a 62-11 rout of Arkansas-Pine Bluff in the season opener for both teams on Saturday night. David Oku led the Red Wolves with 124 yards and two touchdowns. Sirgregory Thornton had 112 yards and two touchdowns. Fredi Knighten also scored two touchdowns and finished with 101 yards. Gordon had just four carries, but ended with 102 yards for Arkansas State, which is coming off back-back 10-win seasons. Arkansas State won its ninth consecutive game, tied for the second-longest win streak in the nation.

Julian Jones moved into a tie for tenth in touchdown receptions in the Red Wolves' record book with a 22-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter. Arkansas-Pine Bluff, which averaged close to 400 total yards in 2012. Was held to just 173. - AP Sports

07/20/13 - 2013 DOAK WALKER AWARD WATCH LIST: David Oku (Sr.), Arkansas State...Oku is the third player in A-State history to make his way onto the preseason watch list and the first since Reggie Arnold, the Red Wolves’ second all-time leading rusher, in 2009. Arnold was named to the Doak Walker Award Watch List three times (2007-09), while Jonathan Adams was a preseason candidate in 2000 and 2001. Adams is A-State’s fourth all-time leading rusher.

The 2012 season saw Oku post 1,061 rushing yards, which were the 10th most in school history for a single season and the highest total by an A-State player since Arnold picked up 1,074 in 2008. He ended the season as the nation’s 59th-leading rusher and tied for 52nd in scoring. Oku recorded 16 rushing touchdowns that were the third most ever by an ASU player, sixth most in Sun Belt history and ranked tied for 13th in the nation. His 16 rushing touchdowns as a junior were the most by an A-State player since David Hines picked up 16 as well in 1975. - Arkansas State football
