08/24/16 - TE Tyler Eifert continues to make progress coming off ankle surgery stemming from an injury he suffered in the Pro Bowl. On Wednesday, Eifert was seen working out on the rehab field, which is a crowded place for the Bengals these days. Eifert began running on Monday. He's still hoping to be ready for the Bengals' regular-season opener at the New York Jets.
08/04/16 - TE Tyler Eifert continues to progress in his rehab from ankle surgery. Coach Marvin Lewis said this week that he was pleased with the progress and expected to know more within three weeks. Eifert, who caught 52 passes for 615 yards and 13 touchdowns last year, began training camp on the physically unable to perform list with an injury he suffered while playing in the Pro Bowl.
07/26/16 - TE Tyler Eifert was placed on the physically unable to perform list on Tuesday. Eifert underwent offseason ankle surgery and is expected to miss the majority - if not all - of training camp and the preseason.
05/24/16 - TE Tyler Eifert will undergo surgery on his ailing left ankle, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. Eifert, 25, suffered the injury nearly four months ago in the Pro Bowl and it hasn't healed. The upcoming surgery is expected to sideline Eifert for approximately three months, which means he will miss a large chunk of training camp. Eifert caught 52 passes for 615 yards and 13 touchdowns last season.
04/13/16 - TE Tyler Eifer had the fifth-year option of his rookie contract exercised by the Bengals. Eifert is now signed through the 2017 season. The option is in his contract as a first-round pick (21st overall) in the 2013 NFL Draft out of Notre Dame. The option is worth $4.7 million.
Despite missing three games and most of a fourth due to injuries last season, the 6-6, 250-pound Eifert scored 13 touchdowns, a record by four for a Bengals tight end and only one short of the NFL lead for all players. Eifert, who turns 26 in Week 1 of the 2016 season, had career highs of 52 catches and 615 yards and was an initial ballot selection for the Pro Bowl.
