Draft Scout News
04/13/16 - TE Tyler Eifer had the fifth-year option of his rookie contract exercised by the Bengals. Eifert is now signed through the 2017 season. The option is in his contract as a first-round pick (21st overall) in the 2013 NFL Draft out of Notre Dame. The option is worth $4.7 million.
Despite missing three games and most of a fourth due to injuries last season, the 6-6, 250-pound Eifert scored 13 touchdowns, a record by four for a Bengals tight end and only one short of the NFL lead for all players. Eifert, who turns 26 in Week 1 of the 2016 season, had career highs of 52 catches and 615 yards and was an initial ballot selection for the Pro Bowl.
01/04/16 - TE Tyler Eifert returned Sunday after missing two games with a concussion and had four catches for 51 yards and a touchdown.
Eifert missed another game with a neck injury earlier this season and still has produced 52 catches for 615 yards and 13 TDs.
12/31/15 - TE Tyler Eifert, who missed three of the past four games due to injury, returned to the practice field Wednesday and declared himself concussion-free and ready to play Sunday.
Eifert has 48 receptions this season for 564 yards and 12 touchdowns, which led the NFL for a few weeks prior to him suffering a concussion in a loss to Pittsburgh on Dec. 13. He has touchdown receptions in seven games this season and three or more touchdowns in four games.
12/25/15 - TE Tyler Eifert was on the field for the start of practice Thursday but he was not a participant for the second consecutive day. NFL Network reported Wednesday that Eifert would not play Monday at Denver because of a head injury. However, the Bengals denied he was ruled out. Eifert left in the first half of the Dec. 13 loss to Pittsburgh after taking a hit from Steelers safety Mike Mitchell, who was fined $23,152 for the play.
12/24/15 - TE Tyler Eifert, the NFL's touchdown receptions leader with 12, could return to action on Monday at Denver, but as of Wednesday he remained on concussion protocol. Eifert did not practice Wednesday but did do work on the side.
