 Draft Scout Gabe Jackson News
09/08/14 - G Gabe Jackson, a rookie starter on the right side, caught a pass for a 1-yard gain on a screen that was deflected off a Jets defender.
09/01/14 - G Gabe Jackson has earned the start on the left side, with Khalif Jackson moving to right tackle and at least temporarily displacing Menelik Watson.
05/12/14 - Left guard Gabe Jackson appeals to the Raiders because he's a power blocker at 336 pounds, not that he had any idea he'd be wearing silver and black. The Raiders took Jackson at No. 81 after trading back with Miami to get an additional fourth-round pick. "It was a surprise," Jackson said. "I didn't know I would end up landing there. I feel like I fit in with their physical style of play. They like strong, physical, offensive linemen."

Director of player personnel Joey Clinkscales believes Jackson could push for playing time immediately. "I think he could come in and play pretty early for anybody," Clinkscales said. "He's a powerful, physical young man. When you're building a guard, physically, that's what they look like." - The Sports Xchange

05/12/14 - A closer look at the Raiders' picks: Round 3/81 - Gabe Jackson, G, 6-3, 336, Mississippi State...A powerful interior blocker, Jackson was a first-team All-America selection who had 52 starts in the SEC, home of the toughest defensive linemen in college football. A perfect fit for the Raiders' power running game, Jackson will be given every chance to unseat starting left guard Khalif Barnes. - The Sports Xchange
05/08/14 - 2014 DRAFT SCOUT FINAL TOP 100: 66/4. Gabe Jackson, OG, Mississippi State, 6-3, 336, 5.42, 2-3...Three-year starter and the son of a high school coach has more than enough size, strength, ability to be a top notch player. The concern is that he doesn't perform at that high level consistently. Has tantalizing balance of overall power, agility and great feet, but sometimes misses things he should pick up, which could be dangerous for NFL QBs. Frankly: Jackson is an interesting combination of physical ingredients, but sometimes seems to lose focus or his technique gets sloppy. Tell him his dad is watching the game tapes and see if that gets his attention. - Frank Cooney, NFLDraftScout.com
