Draft Scout Trevor Reilly News
02/20/14 - 2014 NFL Draft Scout Pre-Combine Top 64 Prospects: 46. Trevor Reilly, OLB, Utah, 6-5, 255, 4.67, 2...As mature and responsible as you might expect of a 26-year old married man with two children, an Eagle Scout badge and a resume that includes a two-year Mormon Mission in Sweden. He was Utah's best player last season, leading the team in tackles (100), tackles for loss (16), sacks (8.5) and fumble recoveries (3). Versatile athlete with strength, agility and know-how to fit in either 3-4 or 4-3. Missed all-star games due to minor cleanout on right knee (had ACL surgery in 2012). - Frank Cooney, The Sports Xchange
01/27/14 - 2014 NFL Draft: Utah's Reilly had knee surgery...Reilly played in 48 games (including 32 starts) for the Utes, breaking out as a sophomore to rank 17th nationally (and tied for third in the Pac-12) with four forced fumbles in 2011. As a junior Reilly again showed his ability to make big plays, pacing the club with three forced fumbles and 69 tackles, including 6½ tackles for loss and 4½ sacks while splitting time between STUD linebacker (eight starts) and right defensive end (four starts). Reilly's length and athleticism will intrigue scouts operating for 4-3 and 3-4 defenses, alike. He is at his best in the two-point stance, demonstrating the burst to pressure the edge and the long-arms to keep blockers from controlling him.
He locates the football quickly and is a passionate defender, showing good overall athleticism and straight-line speed for a man of his size. Reilly enters the NFL older than most prospects, having just celebrated his 26th birthday, according to his official bio at Utah. He served a Mormon mission in Sweden. Reilly is married and has two daughters. According to a source close to Reilly, he is already running in preparation for the scouting combine and Utah's Pro Day on March 19. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com
01/27/14 - 2014 NFL Draft: Utah's Reilly had knee surgery...Given his production in 2013 as an edge rusher for Utah, senior Trevor Reilly was conspicuously absent from postseason all-star games. The reason the first-team All-Pac-12 defender didn't participate is now clear as Reilly recently underwent a knee scope, NFLDraftScout.com has learned. The surgery took place in early January and was described as a relatively minor arthroscopic procedure to clean out his meniscus. It did take place on the same knee (right) on which Reilly had previously undergone surgery to repair a torn ACL. Reilly tore the ACL in 2012 and played through the pain to earn honorable mention accolades as a junior.
The 6-foot-5, 255-pound Reilly currently ranks as NFLDraftScout.com's No. 5 outside linebacker and the No. 45 overall prospect for the 2014 draft. Reilly, a team captain, was the perfect candidate for an all-star game invitation. Besides boasting an exciting combination of size and athleticism, he capped off an impressive career with the Utes with his best season in 2013. He was Utah's best player last season, leading the Utes in tackles (100), tackles for loss (16), sacks (8½) and fumble recoveries (three). After starring at outside linebacker and defensive end throughout most of the year, Reilly made the move to middle linebacker in his final game, collecting a game-high 14 tackles and sealing the Utes' 24-17 victory with an interception with just 1:54 remaining. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com
12/03/13 - 2013 ALL-PAC-12 FIRST TEAM (COACHES): DL Trevor Reilly, Sr., Utah...Reilly was the best player for a Utah defense that is tied for first in the nation in sacks (39) and ranks third in the conference in rushing defense (130.3 yards per game). He led Utah in tackles (100), tackles for loss (16.0), sacks (8.5) and fumble recoveries (3). Reilly ranked in the top five in the league in all of those categories. - Utah football
12/01/13 - Kelvin York rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns and Trevor Reilly had a late interception to help Utah slide by Colorado 24-17 on Saturday afternoon. In a matchup of the two teams at the bottom of the Pac-12 South, the Utes raced to a 21-0 first-half lead before the Buffs roared back. On fourth-and-10, Sefo Liufau completed a 14-yard TD pass to Nelson Spruce that made it 24-17 with 2:30 remaining. The ensuing onside kick bounded high over the Utah line and out of bounds.
But the Buffs forced a Utah punt that was downed at the 10 - Tom Hackett's third kick inside the 10-yard-line. On the next play, defensive end Reilly dropped back from the line and caught the ball at the 21-yard-line. A year of frustration was evident as Reilly threw the ball high into the south end zone stands before he was greeted by a horde of celebrating teammates on the sidelines. - AP Sports
