 Draft Scout Sam Barrington News

04/28/13 - A closer look at the Packers' picks: Round 7/232 -- Sam Barrington, ILB, 6-1, 235, South Florida...Athletic, versatile linebacker delivered in 4-3 system with at least 65 tackles each of the last three seasons with a total of 6 1/2 sacks, prompting Thompson to say the team's final pick had "really good value." Projects to play inside in 3-4 scheme. - The Sports Xchange
03/28/13 - 2013 South Florida Pro Day: South Florida held its pro day on March 6 outdoors on grass. A total of 17 representatives from NFL teams were on hand to watch, including San Francisco 49ers secondary coach Ed Donatell. Sam Barrington, LB (6 3/8, 235 pounds) - Barrington took part in position drills, and clocked in a 4.69 seconds in the 40-yard dash. He recorded a 37-inch vertical leap and went 10-foot-2 in the broad jump. Barrington also went 4.25 in the short shuttle. - Gil Brandt, NFL.com
03/07/13 - 2013 South Florida Pro Day: Four years of hard work on the football field came down to hundredths of a second without helmets or pads at the Lee Roy Selmon Athletics Center today. Every NFL team and some from the Canadian League were present, armed with stop watches and an analytic eye on a group of former Bulls making their last run to impress before the April's NFL draft. "I didn't get much sleep last night, but it was a relief coming out here on these same fields I practiced on," said former Bulls Linebacker Sam Barrington.

Barrington was one of only three USF players getting a second chance to work out for scouts following the NFL Combine. Defensive back Kayvon Webster impressed in Indianapolis, so much so that he hired super agent Drew Rosenhaus. "I think he has a chance to be a high draft pick and get USF on the map for the draft this year," said Rosenhaus. - Chris Fischer, WTSP 10 News

03/07/13 - 2013 South Florida Pro Day: The three USF players who were invited to the NFL Combine in Indianapolis - linebacker Sam Barrington, defensive tackle Cory Grissom and cornerback Kayvon Webster - also worked out on Wednesday. They were joined by other USF seniors and a handful of former Bulls, including running back Mike Ford, who last played for USF in 2009. Barrington ran a 4.8 in the 40 and had a 37-inch leap in the vertical jump. Grissom had 24 repetitions on the bench press. - Joey Johnston, The Tampa Tribune
