Draft Scout Gosder Cherilus News
08/17/15 - T Gosder Cherilus agreed to terms with the Buccaneers Monday (Aug. 17) on a two-year contract.
The Buccaneers lost right tackle Demar Dotson to a sprained MCL in their preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday. Dotson is expected to be out for up to six weeks.
The Vikings, who lost right tackle Phil Loadholt to an Achilles injury in the same game, also reportedly were interested in Cherilus.
Cherilus was released by the Indianapolis Colts last month. The 2008 first-round pick of the Detroit Lions had visited both the Lions and Buffalo Bills.
In Tampa Bay, he will offer a veteran presence to a line that features rookies Donovan Smith and Ali Marpet.
07/26/15 - T Gosder Cherilus had his contract terminated by the Colts Sunday (July 26). Cherilus started all 29 games he appeared in for the team over the past two seasons.
The seven-year veteran signed a five-year, $35 million deal in 2013 that included $16.5 million in guaranteed money. However, the 31 year old struggled through nagging injuries last season before undergoing offseason knee surgery and missing the team's offseason program. His availability for training camp was uncertain, and that is after a 2014 season in which he allowed 6.0 sacks, 15 hits and 27 quarterback hurries.
12/31/14 - T Gosder Cherilus (groin) was placed on injured reserve after Wednesday's practice. Xavier Nixon or Joe Reitz could end up starting at right offensive tackle in Cherilus' absence.
12/29/14 - OT Gosder Cherilus (groin) has been sidelined the last two weeks. Cherilus, who has been battling various minor injuries for most of the 2014 regular season, is expected to practice on Wednesday.
12/28/14 - RT Gosder Cherilus (groin) was inactive, and his status for next week's playoff opener at home isn't known. With other injuries hampering the offensive line, Indianapolis needs Cherilus to return, even if he isn't at 100 percent.
