 Draft Scout Chris Borland News
04/15/14 - 2014 NFL Draft Linebackers: Chris Borland, Wisconsin, 6-0, 248, 4.83, 2-3...Passionate in all endeavors, Borland more than earned the Big 10 Defensive Player of the Year Award. On the field he maximized his average speed and below average height with amazing ability to read, react and reject most plays before they developed. Forced 15 career fumbles, second most in FBS history. Plays with discipline in space and decisiveness at the line. Off the field, he is active within city of Madison community and led teammates in supporting a local cancer patient through the "Badgers Lift for Life" program. Frankly: A taller Zach Thomas. And while you debate that comparison, consider this is the only time he will be described as taller. - Frank Cooney, The Sports Xchange
03/17/14 - 2014 Pro Days: Dezmen Southward the story at Wisconsin workout...Linebacker Chris Borland also participated in Wednesday's workout. His 40-yard dash times were "similar" to the 4.83 he was credited with running at the Combine, though he did showed improved explosion in the vertical jump, measuring in at 35" Wednesday after recording a 31" vertical in Indianapolis. Among the NFL teams present for Wednesday's workout were the Chiefs, Colts, Eagles, Giants, Patriots, Ravens, Saints and Steelers. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com
01/20/14 - 2014 NFL DRAFT: SENIOR BOWL WEIGH-IN LOSERS: Chris Borland, ILB, Wisconsin: Borland has been compared to former Miami Dolphins stud linebacker Zach Thomas for much of his career and his instincts and open-field tackling ability warrant the mention. He looked smaller on stage than his official height (5-11 3/8 inches) and weight (245), however, and tied with former teammate, running back James White, with the shortest arms of any player measured Monday (28 5/8 inches). - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com
01/01/14 - PLAYERS TO WATCH: LB Chris Borland should get plenty of chances to make a difference. As the leader and heart and soul of the defense, Borland wraps up a stellar career against South Carolina. Borland has dealt with hamstring issues this season, but enters the bowl game with a clean bill of health. Borland was recently named the Big Ten Conference's Linebacker of the Year, then learned he was also named the Big Ten's Defensive Player of the Year after finishing with 102 tackles and 8.5 tackles for a loss. - The Sports Xchange
12/05/13 - 2013 ALL-BIG TEN FIRST TEAM (MEDIA): Chris Borland, Wisconsin, Linebacker...For his career, Borland ranks sixth all-time at Wisconsin -- and second among active FBS players – with 410 total tackles. His 50.0 career tackles for loss rank 10th among active players and fourth in UW history. - Wisconsin football
