Draft Scout *Morris Claiborne News
03/19/17 - CB Morris Claiborne signed with the Jets on Saturday. The oft-injured defensive back was an unrestricted free agent, and the NFL Network reported that the Jets gave him a one-year contract worth more than $5 million a week after releasing CB Darrelle Revis. Claiborne, 27, was the sixth overall pick by the Cowboys in the 2012 NFL Draft. He has yet to appear in more than 11 games in a season after appearing in 15 games as a rookie. He missed six games in 2013 with a dislocated left shoulder and a hamstring injury. In 2014, he missed 12 games due to a torn left patellar tendon. Claiborne started 11 games in 2015 while dealing with hamstring and ankle injuries. Following the 2015 campaign, Claiborne was an unrestricted free agent but he returned on a one-year deal. Claiborne still struggled with injuries, sitting out the last nine regular-season games with a groin injury. He played in the NFC divisional playoff loss to the Green Bay Packers but injured his rib. In 47 regular-season games, Claiborne has four interceptions, 26 passes defensed, a forced fumble and four fumble recoveries.
12/07/16 - CB Morris Claiborne, who has missed the last five games because of an avulsion fracture, hopes to return before the end of the season. Claiborne still doesn't have a firm diagnosis of the injury, which he describes as bone being torn off his pelvis, but he said the injury is healing and he is doing more and more every week. He believes he will be back on the field in a couple weeks.
11/10/16 - CB Morris Claiborne may be out longer than 4-6 weeks with a strained groin. The Cowboys are going to look at his injury next week and determine if it is indeed a sports hernia, requiring surgery that will keep him out longer. Right now, no one knows. He will miss his second straight game on Sunday against the Steelers.
11/03/16 - CB Morris Claiborne is out 4-6 weeks with a groin injury. Orlando Scandrick will start in his place.
