 Draft Scout Chris Coyer News
09/04/13 - PLAYERS TO WATCH: H-back Chris Coyer, last year's starting quarterback, tied for the team lead with four catches for 39 yards against Notre Dame and could be a viable option. - The Sports Xchange
08/27/13 - Former starting quarterback Chris Coyer has accepted his new role as H-back, and he's been a big plus in aiding Connor Reilly and Juice Granger make a smooth transition into Rhule's system. "It's definitely new, I'm doing a lot of different things and you hear quarterbacks being called all of the time and you kind of turn your head for a second," Coyer said. "I think it's going well and it's a good starting point. (Connor) and I were going some of the playbook when we're out on the field and over casual conversation over dinner. Connor knows what to expect and he knows how things are going to be fast. I still think like a quarterback and I still try to think about what's going on. I know what everyone is doing on every play and can correct guys what to do on certain plays. It helps our team when they have players to look toward on the team, not just coaches." - The Sports Xchange
07/12/13 - 2013 PAUL HORNUNG AWARD WATCH LIST: Chris Coyer, Temple...Coyer is a left-handed quarterback that moved to hybrid halfback during spring 2013 drills. Named the Offensive Most Valuable Player of the 2011 Gildan New Mexico Bowl, he saw action in 22 games over the last three seasons with 13 starts under center. In nine starts in 2012, Coyer finished 84-of-164 for 946 yards and eight touchdowns. He also finished second in rushing with 444 yards and two touchdowns on 111 carries. Coyer, who received his bachelor's degree in finance in May 2013, is pursuing a master's degree in finance. - Temple football
09/10/12 - QB Chris Coyer is proving to be a real leader. He doesn't have the most accurate arm, and he's been equated to Tim Tebow light. He battles, and the team seems to be taking on his personality. Coyer finished with 53 yards rushing and 178 yards passing, while somehow compensating for flying snaps over his head and a poor overall day by the Temple offense with a 101-degree fever prior to kickoff.
09/05/12 - PLAYERS TO WATCH: QB Chris Coyer -- The lefty is turning into Tim Tebow Light, and it figures, with Addazio, who coached Tebow when he was an assistant coach at Florida. The junior 6-3, 230-pound junior from Virginia is turning into a game changer, with the ability to pass and run. He gained 80 yards on 13 carries against Villanova, but more importantly, he seems the type that will do whatever needs to be done to win. - The Sports Xchange
