Draft Scout Snapshot: A closer look at the Jaguars' picks: Round 2/33 - Johnathan Cyprien, SS, 6-0, 217, Florida International...The Jaguars entertained trade offers for the pick but only if it was something special. When none came forward, Jacksonville jumped at the chance to grab Cyprien who they were very high on. They like his physical nature and durability. He never missed a college game while posting career totals of 365 tackles, 13.5 tackles for lost yardage and seven interceptions. Cyprien has long arms and with his size is the ideal makeup of what Gus Bradley wanted in the secondary. - The Sports Xchange

04/29/13 - Coach Gus Bradley got the defensive guy he wanted and the Jaguars got a much-needed defensive back with the first pick of Friday's second/third round of the NFL draft. Safety Jonathan Cyprien had been high on the Jaguars' watch list, especially after his stock was solidified with a strong showing at the Senior Bowl this year.

Bradley smiled when asked if it felt good to get a defensive player, after the Jaguars took offensive tackle Luke Joeckel with their first pick in the draft the day before. Bradley has a defensive background, having served as Seattle's defensive coordinator before the Jaguars hired him this past January. "He's got a passion for the game," Bradley said. "The loudness, it was hard for me to hear him on tape but he is very animated. He just enjoys it. He loves to play the game. I think he's going to add to what we have here and the attitude that we're looking for."

While he's got the defensive background, Bradley admits he has to look at the big picture now that he's in charge of everything. "I look at it as the whole thing now as a head coach," he added. "I feel really good about our picks. Mainly like we said before because these guys are really into football and that's what we're going to build here. We're going to build a team full of guys that are really into ball and want to get better. When you meet him and get a chance to sit down and visit with him you'll see how he's really wired." - The Sports Xchange

04/25/13 - DANE BRUGLER'S FINAL 2013 DRAFT BOARD: 32. S, Jonathan Cyprien, Florida International (6-0, 217, 4SR)...A Louis Delmas-like safety prospect, Cyprien is overaggressive at times and takes a lot of chances. But he is a physical striker with the range to hold up in coverage. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com
04/25/13 - ROB RANG'S FINAL 2013 NFL DRAFT BIG BOARD: 46. Jonathan Cyprien, SS, Florida International: The ultra-physical Cyprien was dynamic in Mobile, which erased my previous concerns about his level of competition, but speed (4.64) is a concern. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com
04/21/13 - 2013 NFL DRAFT: FIVE BOLD PREDICTIONS: 5. For the first time since 2007, at least three safeties will be drafted in the first round...The NFL has become a pass-happy league and with tight ends becoming more popular with the emergence of players like Rob Gronkowski and Jimmy Graham, tough-cover safeties are growing in popularity for teams. Historically, it's not a position that is highly sought after in the first round, but that's starting to change. This draft doesn't have a Sean Taylor or Eric Berry type of safety prospect who will be considered in the top five overall picks, but Kenny Vaccaro (Texas), John Cyprien (Florida International), Matt Elam (Florida) and Eric Reid (LSU) will all be considered in the 15-32 range. All four of those prospects have flaws, but they play a position that is growing in popularity and teams aren't shy about taking one early. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com
