 Draft Scout Dakota Dozier News
05/13/14 - 2014 NFL DRAFT BEST VALUE PICK: NEW YORK JETS: Round 4/137 -- Dakota Dozier, G, 6-4, 313, Furman...Dozier played at FCS Furman but has big-time measurables. He was a four-year starter at left tackle before moving to guard for the East/West Shrine Game. The Jets took a similar player last year in Brian Winters, a four-year starter at Kent State who struggled in transitioning from left tackle to guard. Fortunately for Dozier, he likely won't have to contribute right away with Winters and Willie Colon ahead of him, but a solid first season -- even of the redshirt variety -- could put him in line to start in 2015. - The Sports Xchange
05/12/14 - A closer look at the Jets' picks: Round 4/137 -- Dakota Dozier, G, 6-4, 313, Furman...Dozier played at FCS Furman but has big-time measurables. He was a four-year starter at left tackle before moving to guard for the East/West Shrine Game. The Jets took a similar player last year in Brian Winters, a four-year starter at Kent State who struggled in transitioning from left tackle to guard. 05/07/14 - Five players who should be on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' draft radar...OG Dakota Dozier, Furman: The Bucs are hopeful that left guard Carl Nicks will return to the road-grader he was as a two-time Pro Bowl guard with the New Orleans Saints but can't count on it. Nicks recently told reporters that he felt "comfortable" that he'll be back for training camp but also that the MRSA infection which ruined his 2013 season caused nerve damage and that it could be a life-long issue. As such, adding a powerful, athletic and aggressive talent like Dozier would make a lot of sense as a developmental prospect. Dozier starred at left tackle in college but is technically raw, too often over-setting and leaving himself vulnerable to counter-moves. Given time to develop and the protection of playing inside, he could prove quite the find in the third round. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com
04/29/14 - 2014 NFL Draft Offensive Line: Dakota Dozier, Furman, 6-4, 313, 5.42...After spending four college years as a left tackle, Dozier's abilities still appear based in his high school success as a tough-guy wrestler. Although he has quick feet and athleticism, he seems to be too aggressive to be an outside pass blocker, but could be a gem as a guard. Frankly: Dozier has a compelling combination of nimble athleticism and nasty disposition that should serve him well at any level of football if he works at the tricks of the trade. - Frank Cooney, The Sports Xchange
04/21/14 - Five players who should be on Philadelphia's draft radar: OG Dakota Dozier, Furman: The Eagles are set at guard, but Evan Mathis and Todd Herremans aren't getting any younger and a future replacement could be targeted in this year's loaded guard class. Dozier started the last four years at left tackle, but projects best inside where his athleticism translates well to the Eagles blocking scheme. A former high school wrestler, he shows grit on the field with natural body control and flexibility to square up and hold his own through the finish. Dozier needs to continue and get stronger, but has the foot quickness to block on the move and be a mobile wrecking ball, using his pad level and alert style to be successful. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com
