Draft Scout *Gavin Escobar News
10/23/17 - TE Gavin Escobar was signed Monday to give quarterback Joe Flacco another target downfield. Escobar is a 2013 second-round pick by the Cowboys and had 30 receptions for 333 yards and eight touchdowns during his career in Dallas. In a corresponding move, OL Tony Bergstrom was released.
07/31/16 - TE Gavin Escobar is a surprise player who is not on PUP to start camp. He has made impressive strides in recovering from a torn Achilles he sustained in Week 15 last season. "Gavin has worked very hard and I really give a lot of credit to our medical staff," head coach Jason Garrett said. "There are not many days that go by, hours that go by, that the guys who have been banged up aren't out there at Valley Ranch getting their stuff done.
"Escobar and (cornerback Orlando) Scandrick and a number of these guys, Dez Bryant, they've all done an outstanding job getting themselves right and a credit to them and a credit to our medical team."
Scandrick, who missed all of last season after suffering a knee injury on the last week of training camp, has been fully cleared to practice. He is 100 percent and ready to go.
12/25/15 - TE Gavin Escobar (Achilles) was placed on reserve/injured by the Cowboys Friday (Dec. 25).
12/21/15 - TE Gavin Escobar is out for the season with a torn Achilles tendon. It's another setback for Escobar, who hasn't played as well as expected after being a 2013 second-round draft pick. He finished this season with only eight catches for 64 yards and one touchdown, the least productive of his three-year career.
10/19/14 - TE Gavin Escobar caught a career-best two touchdown passes against the Giants. The second-year backup came into game with only three scores in his previous 22 games.
