Draft Scout *Gavin Escobar News
12/25/15 - TE Gavin Escobar (Achilles) was placed on reserve/injured by the Cowboys Friday (Dec. 25).
12/21/15 - TE Gavin Escobar is out for the season with a torn Achilles tendon. It's another setback for Escobar, who hasn't played as well as expected after being a 2013 second-round draft pick. He finished this season with only eight catches for 64 yards and one touchdown, the least productive of his three-year career.
10/19/14 - TE Gavin Escobar caught a career-best two touchdown passes against the Giants. The second-year backup came into game with only three scores in his previous 22 games.
09/19/14 - TE Gavin Escobar (knee) is questionable for Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams.
09/11/14 - TE Gavin Escobar was expected to play a bigger role in the offense in 2014. But in the season opener he played he played just nine snaps in the game.
The Cowboys say more time is coming for the 2013 second round pick who so far has been labeled a bust. Escobar had nine catches for 134 yards as rookie last year.
"Gavin had the shoulder injury over the last couple of weeks of the preseason so he didn't play as much toward the end of the preseason as we would have liked and did a good job getting himself back," coach Jason Garrett said. "I think he only played six plays in the game. We had more plays planned for him but when you get behind like that, you get into more of a three wide receiver mode and that's what we did. But Gavin has developed well both as a run blocker and certainly as a receiver over the last year or so and we anticipate more action for him as the year goes on."
