Draft Scout *Mike Evans News
12/13/15 - WR Mike Evans had perhaps his most disappointing game -- no catches in the first half, just three for 39 yards for the game. That was nearly offset by 25 yards in penalties on back-to-back plays. He said "every dog has its day" about the Saints defense, but he disappeared when his team needed him to step up after Vincent Jackson's knee injury.
11/15/15 - WR Mike Evans is holding the Bucs' offense together. Sure, he has had more than his share of drops, but without WR Vincent Jackson (knee), TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins (shoulder) and WR Louis Murphy (ACL), he is the team's best offensive threat, and other teams know it. Still, he caught eight balls Sunday for 126 yards. "I keep telling y'all, Mike Evans is a beast,'' said QB Jameis Winston.
11/08/15 - WR Mike Evans finished with eight catches for 152 yards, but his costly drops -- "unacceptable" as he said -- hampered the offense and killed drives. He is facing extra coverage with WR Vincent Jackson out, but he missed easy catches he should have converted in Sunday's loss.
10/25/15 - WR Mike Evans had another excellent day at Fed Ex Field. Last year, he grabbed seven passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns in a 27-7 Tampa Bay win. In Sunday's 31-30 loss, he had eight catches for 164 yards and a touchdown.
10/14/15 - WR Mike Evans is off to a slow start. He missed the season opener and played sparingly in the second game due to a hamstring strain. Evans was targeted 17 times and caught only seven for 101-yards receiving against the Texans. But last week, Evans was targeted five times and caught three passes for 41 yards.
"The great thing about having a guy of his caliber that we haven't even given him the ball that much - I haven't given him the ball, we've had plays to give him the ball," quarterback Jameis Winston said of Evans. "One, it's a learning process for all of us. But the thing is, he's like our secret weapon now. People are still going to be game planning for him and I haven't even given him many opportunities to shine yet. So he's just our secret weapon for right now."
