 Draft Scout News
06/08/15 - Tennessee has added former Cincinnati running back/receiver Ralph David Abernathy IV and former Maryland punter Nate Renfro as graduate transfers. The school released an updated roster Thursday that included both players. As graduate transfers, Abernathy and Renfro are eligible to play this fall rather than sitting out a year. Abernathy averaged 25.1 yards per kickoff return and compiled 917 yards rushing and 540 yards receiving from 2011-14. He was limited to two games for Cincinnati last season because of heel and hamstring injuries. Renfro was Maryland's main punter the last three seasons and averaged 41.5 yards per attempt in 2014. The updated roster doesn't include defensive back Lemond Johnson, who played four games last season. Tennessee athletic department spokesman Jason Yellin said Johnson is no longer part of the team. - AP Sports
07/24/14 - Other AAC prospects to watch in 2014: RB Ralph David Abernathy, Cincinnati, Senior...While Kiel is expected to take snaps under center, he will benefit from Abernathy with him in the backfield or in the slot. With a smallish frame that won't be able to take a consistent beating at the NFL level, Abernathy won't receive much attention as a prospect, but his versatility as an offensive weapon makes him a player worth keeping an eye on. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com
12/16/13 - 2013 ALL-AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM (COACHES): RS Ralph David Abernathy IV, Cincinnati, Jr., 5-7 161, Atlanta, Ga./Westminster School,...Abernathy IV was one of the most feared returners in the league which resulted in many opponents kicking away from the speedy return specialist. The junior returned a total of 16 kicks for an average of 21.94 yards. - Cincinnati football
09/12/13 - RB Ralph David Abernathy IV will continue to get plenty of touches in Tommy Tuberville's offense. In two games, Abernathy also has 27 rushing attempts with two TDs and three receptions for 25 yards. He also has four kickoff returns for a 23.2-yard average. - The Sports Xchange
09/12/13 - Scouting the Cincinnati running game: So much for balance. Trailing for much of last week's game at Illinois forced the Bearcats to rely more heavily on the passing game, rushing for 148 yards and passing for 308. UC still is looking for contributions beyond just scat back Ralph David Abernathy IV and Hosey Williams. A broken nose has set back Tion Green, although he will be available this week. "Everybody needs a big back. We can't play with jitterbugs all game," said head coach Tommy Tuberville. - The Sports Xchange
