Draft Scout Brian Leonard News
11/20/14 - RB Brian Leonard was released by the Saints Wednesday (Nov. 19), just seven days after being signed to add some depth to the injury-depleted backfield.
11/12/14 - RB Brian Leonard, an eight-year veteran, was signed as insurance for the Saints' injury-depleted backfield.
08/18/13 - RB Brian Leonard, a free agent from the Rams, played for Greg Schiano at Rutgers. Being reunited in Tampa Bay has rejuvenated his career. Leonard has been so impressive that the Bucs held him out of the second preseason game in New England to give longer looks to rookie Mike James and Peyton Hillis. What makes Leonard so valuable is his versatility. He can play fullback in a two-back set and is a good pass protector and route runner to play on third down as well. Leonard may be the perfect complement to Doug Martin, especially since he can be effective in short yardage situations where the Bucs struggled a year ago.
12/06/12 - RB Brian Leonard should get some opportunities as the second running back with the Cedric Peerman injury. Leonard has only 15 carries for 46 yards on the season.
11/01/12 - RB Brian Leonard was upgraded to full participation after being limited on Wednesday. He missed the Steelers game due to a rib injury suffered Oct. 14 at Cleveland but will play against Denver. He is expected to play on third-down packages.
