Draft Scout Charles Johnson News
06/07/16 - WR Charles Johnson made a rare reappearance on the first-team offense during Tuesday's OTA practice. Johnson was the surprise no-name player who unseated former first-rounder Cordarrelle Patterson in 2014, only to be unseated himself last year by surprise rookie Stefon Diggs. It's obvious Johnson still has a nice rapport with quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.
10/21/15 - WR Charles Johnson, who has missed the past two games because of a rib injury, returned to full participation in practice. He is likely to lose his starting job to rookie Stefon Diggs, who has seized his opportunity the past two games.
10/19/15 - WR Charles Johnson missed his second straight game because of a rib injury. In light of how rookie Stefon Diggs has seized the opportunity with two standout games in Johnson's absence, coach Mike Zimmer was asked if he's a believer in a player not losing his starting job because of injury.
Zimmer said he does believe a player shouldn't lose his job because of injury, but added in a foretelling manner, "but a guy can lose it because of performance."
He also said he hadn't made up his mind about who will start at receiver alongside Mike Wallace once Johnson is healthy. But his answer made it sound like he's definitely leaning toward elevating Diggs to starter ahead of Johnson.
10/18/15 - WR Charles Johnson did not play because of an injury to his ribs. Johnson, who has six catches for 46 yards this season, was replaced in the starting lineup by rookie Stefon Diggs.
10/15/15 - WR Charles Johnson, who missed the Denver game because of a rib injury, was limited again in practice Thursday. But he's moving around well, which is the good thing. He's expected to resume his role as a starter on Sunday, barring a setback.
