He had five catches for 139 yards in the second half. - The Sports Xchange
12/02/13 - WEEK 14 MAC EAST DIVISION OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Bowling Green WR Shaun Joplin...Senior wide receiver Shaun Joplin (Sylvania, Ohio) caught six passes for a career-high 149 yards and a touchdown as the Falcons clinched a spot in the MAC Championship game for the first time since 2003 with a 24-7 win over Buffalo. Joplin, who had just one catch for 10 yards in the first half, exploded with five catches for 139 yards in the second half. On the first drive of the second half, Joplin would catch a pass for 31 yards down to the Buffalo 19-yard line.
On the next drive, quarterback Matt Johnson found Joplin in the corner of the end zone. Joplin was able to get his feet down in-bounds to secure the 23-yard touchdown reception, giving the Falcons the lead for good. In the fourth quarter, with the Falcons leading just 17-7, Johnson found Joplin on consecutive plays to set the Falcons up for a score. The second catch, which Joplin out-jumped a receiver and then juked a defender, would go for 62 yards down to the Buffalo seven-yard line. On the next play, the Falcons would score to ice the game. - MAC football
08/08/12 - BOWLING GREEN BREAKOUT STAR: WR Shaun Joplin might be the most athletic of the Bowling Green receivers, earning all-state honors in track and football as a senior at Sylvania (Ohio) Southview High School. 08/08/12 - Inexperience at wide receiver is the most visible area of concern as receivers who combined for 176 receptions for 2,518 yards and 23 touchdowns in 2011 have completed their eligibility. Included in that group are first-team all-conference pick Kamar Jorden, 78 receptions for 1,089 yards and 12 scores, and Eugene Cooper, 67 catches for 808 yards and nine touchdowns. "That's the one position you lose a lot of reps (repetitions), but Shaun Joplin started to come into his own last year," Clawson said. "We're hoping he can take that 'X' position that Freddie (Barnes) and Kamar played the last two years." Joplin had 21 receptions for 292 yards and a touchdown last fall. "I'm just looking forward to being one of the leaders of the receivers, having a great season and being one of the top receivers in the conference," said Joplin, who will be a redshirt junior in 2012. "I'm looking forward to having fun and having a great season." Also in the mix at wide receiver are Je'Ron Stokes, a transfer who played two years at Michigan; Herve Coby and Chris Gallon, who both redshirted in 2011; Heath Jackson, who Clawson hopes is ready to make his presence felt in his third-year in the program; Travis Green, who was redshirted in 2011; and Jared Cohen, a late signee from Golden West College in California. - The Sports Xchange
