Draft Scout Jasper Collins News
05/03/13 - Dolphins Sign 19 Undrafted College Free Agents...WR - JASPER COLLINS (5-10, 180, 11/28/91, Mount Union): Appeared in 52 career games and recorded 232 receptions for 3,527 yards and 37 touchdowns - MiamiDolphins.com
03/01/13 - 2013 NFL PRO DAY DATES TO REMEMBER: March 8 - Texas A&M, Florida International, Mount Union ...Alliance, Ohio, isn't a normal stop for many NFL teams, but Mount Union wide receiver Jasper Collins, who didn't receive a combine invite, is worth the attention as he looks to follow other Purple Raider wideouts (Pierre Garcon, Cecil Shorts) to the NFL. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com
01/18/13 - 2013 SHRINE GAME PRACTICE RISERS: 3. WR Jasper Collins, Mount Union (5101, 183 -- West Team)...Considering he is the only Division-III prospect participating this week, it was even more impressive that Collins was the most polished route runner and consistent receiver on the roster. He isn't the biggest or the fastest, but he displayed excellent footwork and short-area quickness to set up his routes, keep defenders off balance and create separation to give the quarterback an open target. Coming from the same program that produced NFL starting receivers Pierre Garcon and Cecil Shorts, Collins is used to expectations, and he passed this week with flying colors. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com
01/15/13 - EAST WEST SHRINE GAME - MONDAY PRACTICE: For some non-FBS prospects, the toughest part of the draft process can be shedding the dreaded "small school" label. And one way to do that is in these pre-draft all-star games when they're pitted against players from the SEC, Big Ten and other "power" conferences. On the first day of practice for this year's Shrine game on Monday, several small-schoolers stood out and proved they belong on the same field as many of the FBS prospects.
He's not the fastest or the biggest at his position, but Mount Union wide receiver Jasper Collins (West Team) might be the most polished receiver in St. Petersburg this week. As the only Division-III prospect invited to the 88th annual Shrine Game, he hasn't seen the top competition that he will match up against in practice, but through the first day he certainly didn't appear out of place. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com
01/15/13 - EAST WEST SHRINE GAME - MONDAY PRACTICE: Collins was very smooth in his routes, showing very good foot quickness and burst out of his breaks to keep the defender off-balance. He also did a nice job setting up his patterns with excellent conviction and patience, which was evident on a stop-and-go route that he used to lure the cornerback toward him before bursting downfield, catching a 40-yard pass. Collins showed good hands and also received punts at the end of practice (had three punt returns for touchdowns in college). Collins is currently rated as a fringe draftable prospect or possible priority free agent, but could significantly help his stock this week. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com
