 Draft Scout Nigel Malone News
06/06/13 - The Pittsburgh Steelers placed cornerback Justin King on the reserve/injured list and signed undrafted rookie free agent cornerback Nigel Malone. King is a sixth-year veteran who was originally a fourth-round pick by the St. Louis Rams in 2008. He joined the Steelers in December. Malone spent time with the Indianapolis Colts earlier this offseason after signing with the team as an undrafted rookie free agent from Kansas State.
01/09/13 - Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein and defensive back Nigel Malone have been selected to play in the 88th East-West Shrine Game, the organization announced. Malone is a two-time semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award as the nationís top defensive back and two-time First Team All-Big 12 performer. He tied for team-high honors with five interceptions a year after finishing second in school history with seven picks in 2011. The Manteca, Calif., product also broke up nine other passes and was one of eight players with 50 or more tackles this season as he finished with 51. Klein and Malone are the third and fourth Wildcats to earn invitations to postseason all-star games this year as linebacker Arthur Brown and wide receiver Chris Harper will play in the Senior Bowl (January 26, 3 p.m., NFL Network). - Kansas State football
12/09/12 - 2012 ALL-BIG 12 SECOND TEAM (MEDIA): Defensive back: Nigel Malone, Kansas State, 5-10, 180, Sr., Manteca, Calif., has been selected Second Team All-Big 12 Conference (Media selection) for the 2012 college football season. - Kansas State football
11/18/12 - CB Nigel Malone snagged his fourth interception, giving the senior 11 career picks since joining Kansas State as a junior-college transfer last season. That ranks fifth on the Kansas State career list for interceptions.
11/17/12 - Five Prospects To Watch in Week 12: Nigel Malone, CB, Kansas State: So much of the attention dedicated to Kansas State revolves around their Heisman candidate quarterback Collin Klein that a sound tackling, ball-hawking Wildcats' defense rarely gets any of the credit. Going up against an explosive Baylor offense, KSU's defensive statistics aren't likely to be boosted Saturday but the tandem of seniors Malone and Allen Chapman could give Bears' wideout Terrance Williams the toughest challenge he's faced all season long.

Malone signed with KSU as a highly regarded junior college prospect and took the Big 12 by storm a season ago, posting seven interceptions and earning a spot on the all-conference team. He has three more this season (as well as 43 tackles and seven passes broken up) and has steadily ascended draft boards all year long. How Malone (and Chapman) handle the unique combination of size and speed presented by Baylor's receivers Saturday could go a long way in determining whether KSU remains undefeated and on track to play for the national championship. This game begins at 8:00 p.m. ET and will be televised by ESPN. - Rob Rang,
