Draft Scout Ty Powell News
06/09/16 - LB Ty Powell is retiring from the NFL at age 28, multiple media outlets reported Thursday.
Powell, a seventh-round pick (No. 231 overall) by the Seahawks in 2013, was placed on the reserved/retired list by the Eagles on Thursday. He was signed with Philadelphia on May 17.
Before joining the Eagles, Powell spent two seasons with the Buffalo Bills. He had 17 tackles (six assists) and a sack in 19 games. He missed the entire 2015 season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Powell played college football at Harding University in Searcy, Ark.
03/14/16 - LB Ty Powell wasn't tendered as a restricted free agent by the Bills on March 9.
08/18/15 - LB Ty Powell suffered a torn ACL in Monday's practice against the Browns and was placed on injured reserve by the Bills Tuesday (Aug. 18).
08/17/15 - LB Ty Powell suffered a torn ACL Monday in a joint practice with the Cleveland Browns. Powell had been working behind inside linebackers Preston Brown and Nigel Bradham.
"Terrible news," head coach Rex Ryan said. "That's just horrible news. That guy's been playing great for us and really coming into his own. He finally found a home at inside linebacker and obviously was a key cog in our special teams. It's going to be a great loss for us."
Powell was a seventh-round pick of the Seattle Seahawks in 2013 and spent time on the practice squads of both the Seahawks and New York Giants before the Bills picked him up in October 2013.
Powell will join defensive end Jarius Wynn (ACL) on the sideline for the season.
The Bills already have started looking for replacements, hosting linebackers Marcus Benard and Quentin Groves and defensive lineman Red Bryant for workouts on Monday.
11/05/14 - LB Ty Powell continues to battle an ankle injury and his status is unknown for the Chiefs game.
