Draft Scout Weston Richburg News
09/26/16 - C Weston Richburg was ejected in the fourth quarter after drawing his second unsportsmanlike conduct penalties. He was replaced by Brett Jones to finish out the game.
Richburg's ejection was the first under the new rule in which if a player draws two personal fouls of a similar nature, he is automatically kicked out of the game. The Giants center said he immediately apologized to his teammates after the game for letting them down.
"I gotta be a presence in there and be a leader, and sadly I let my team down," Richburg said.
Richburg also said that given the histrionics between Odell Beckham Jr., and Josh Norman last year, the officials were extra strict when it came to flagging even the slightest thing out of the ordinary.
09/25/16 - C Weston Richburg was ejected Sunday after his second unsportsmanlike conduct penalty in the game.
Richburg was given the automatic ejection, known as the "Odell Beckham rule," Sunday in the fourth quarter with the Giants leading the Washington Redskins 24-23. Richburg is the first player tossed from a game under the rule passed in the offseason, which calls for automatic ejection of any player flagged for two personal foul infractions.
His first unsportsmanlike flag was in the first quarter. Richburg was flagged for jawing at game officials after being called for holding.
12/03/15 - C Weston Richburg (ankle) received an increase in his practice reps on Thursday. Richburg is determined to return to the starting lineup after missing last week with a high ankle sprain, his biggest hurdle being how well he can tolerate the pain while still being able to move.
11/30/15 - C Weston Richburg's status for Sunday's game against the Jets is uncertain. Richburg was unable to practice much last week due to a high ankle sprain he suffered against the Patriots. Head coach Tom Coughlin said on Monday that he didn't have any evidence that Richburg would be back for Sunday's game against the Jets.
11/26/15 - C Weston Richburg (ankle) did not practice Thursday after being limited on Wednesday. Richburg spoke of the challenges of wanting to get practice reps while also getting the rest necessary to help his high ankle sprain. However, the need for him to stay off his ankle apparently is winning the battle to where he is in jeopardy of missing his first career start because of an injury.
