He averaged 45.3 yards on seven punts, resulting in an average starting field position of the 18-yard line for Army on the ensuing drives. Layton ranks second in the American Athletic Conference in punting average at 45.1 yards per punt. - AAC football
09/11/13 - Scouting the Temple special teams: Freshman placekicker Jim Cooper continues to have his problems. He missed an extra point and Rhule had enough, pulling in favor of transfer Paul Layton. He didn't fare too well, either. With :37 remaining in the third quarter against Houston, Layton missed a 25-yard field goal attempt wide left that could have given Temple a 16-15 lead.
