12/01/13 - Zach Zenner rushed for 249 yards and two touchdowns to lead South Dakota State to a 26-7 victory over Northern Arizona Saturday night. After a scoreless first quarter, Northern Arizona got on the board first at 9:56 in the second on a 6-yard Zach Bauman run. Zenner answered for the Jackrabbits (9-4) with an 87-yard touchdown run on first down to put the halftime score at 7-7.
In the third quarter, Bauman was dropped for an SDSU safety. On the Jackrabbits next possession, Zenner rushed 34 yards for a second touchdown to put South Dakota State up 16-7. The Jackrabbits shut out Northern Arizona in the second half, scoring 19 unanswered points, including a Justin Syrovatka field goal and a Reginald Gandy rushing touchdown. Kyren Poe threw for 216 yards for the Lumberjacks (9-3) and Bauman rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown. - AP Sports
11/24/13 - Zac Zenner scored three touchdowns as South Dakota State kept its FCS playoff hopes alive with a 42-13 win Saturday over Youngstown State. Zenner ran for 186 of the Jackrabbits' 312 yards rushing in a battle between two top-20 FCS teams. Seventeenth-ranked SDSU (8-4, 5-3 Missouri Valley) won its fourth straight game, while No. 18 Youngstown State (8-4, 5-3) lost its third straight.
Zenner scored on runs of 1 and 6 yards, and caught a 3-yard touchdown pass from Austin Sumner. He left the game in the fourth quarter as a safety measure should the Jackrabbitrs get into the playoffs. SDSU snuffed out the Penguins' running game, allowing just 75 yards rushing on 24 carries. Youngstown State's Kurt Hess completed 9 of 19 passes for 138 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. Andre Stubbs, a receiver, was the Penguins leading rusher with 39 yards on one carry. - AP Sports
11/09/13 - Zach Zenner rushed for 137 yards and a touchdown as South Dakota State rolled to a 29-0 win over Indiana State on Saturday. Zenner's touchdown gave South Dakota State (6-4, 3-3 Missouri Valley Conference) a 9-0 lead late in the first quarter, and the Jackrabbits added two second quarter field goals to take a 15-0 halftime lead.
Austin Sumner connected with Jason Schneider for a 25-yard touchdown in the third quarter and Isaac Rodriguez scored his first touchdown of the season in the fourth quarter to round out the scoring. Sumner had 207 yards passing, and surpassed the 7,000 yard passing mark for his career. The Jackrabbits held Indiana State (1-9, 0-6) to just 161 yards of total offense, 56 passing. Indiana State starting quarterback Mike Perish was hurt early in the game and his replacement, Robert Tonyan Jr., completed just 5 of 20 passes. - AP Sports
10/12/13 - Austin Sumner passed for three touchdowns and Zach Zenner rushed for two more as South Dakota State rolled past Western Illinois, 38-14 in a Missouri Valley Conference battle Saturday. Sumner threw two touchdown passes less than three minutes apart in the first quarter to spark the Jackrabbits (4-3, 1-2 MVC) to a 17-0 first quarter lead. Zenner put the game away in the second half, sweeping 80 yards for a touchdown, then powering in from the 1 to cap the scoring barely three minutes later.
Sumner was 21 of 35 for 265 yards to go with his three touchdowns, but he also threw a pair of interceptions. Zenner finished with 133 yards on 21 carries. Jason Schneider caught seven passes for 118 yards and a touchdown. J.C. Baker carried 27 times for 112 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Leathernecks (3-4, 1-2 MVC). - AP Sports
09/23/13 - SEPT 23 COLLEGE FOOTBALL PERFORMANCE AWARDS FCS RUNNING BACK PERFORMER OF THE WEEK: Zach Zenner (South Dakota State)...Zenner gained 202 yards on 21 carries and scored a pair of touchdowns in a losing effort Sept. 21 at Nebraska. Zenner, who did not play in the fourth quarter, put the Jackrabbits on the board with a 40-yard touchdown run on the Jackrabbits' opening drive and added a 3-yard touchdown run later in the first quarter. He also caught one pass for 21 yards.
The leading rusher in the Football Championship Subdivision with 742 yards through four games, Zenner posted his 13th career 100-yard game and topped the 200-yard mark for the fifth time. He has scored at least two rushing touchdowns in all four games this season.
