Draft Scout Adam Thielen News
12/03/14 - WR Adam Thielen won NFC Special Teams Player of the Week after becoming just the fourth player in Vikings history and the first since 1973 to block a punt and return it for a touchdown.
11/30/14 - WR Adam Thielen blocked a punt and scored on the return, becoming the fourth player in franchise history to accomplish the feat and first since 1973. The touchdown on a blocked punt was the first for a Viking since Issiac Holt on Oct. 12, 1986. The 453 games between blocked punt scores was the longest active streak in the NFL. For Thielen, a second-year player from Division II MInnesota State, it was his first NFL touchdown.
08/24/14 - WR Adam Thielen, who went from undrafted rookie from Division III Minnesota State Mankato to a practice squad player a year ago, made another strong pitch to make the 53-man roster. He has consistently been the fifth-best receiver on the team this offseason. Saturday, he also showed that he could be a nice Plan B at punt returner. He showed excellent shiftiness and speed while returning a punt 75 yards to the Kansas City 5.
08/10/14 - WR Adam Thielen, the native Minnesotan who went to Division III Minnesota State Mankato, is closing in on a roster spot after spending last season on the practice squad as a rookie. Thielen already is one of the top five receivers on the team. Friday night against the Raiders, he also stepped in and shined at punt returner and on punt coverage. If he can prove to be valuable as a cover man and as Marcus Sherels' backup at punt returner, Thielen definitely will make the team.
08/05/14 - WR Adam Thielen will try to increase his value beyond the No. 5 receiver role when he's given a chance to return kicks and punts in Friday's preseason opener against the Raiders. Thielen, a Division III product from Minnesota State Mankato, where the Vikings hold training camp, is a local favorite. He's also been the most impressive climber on the roster since spending last year on the practice squad. If the Vikings keep five receivers, it will be hard for it the fifth one not to be Thielen.
