Post-Draft Outlook:
COULD SURPRISE: West Virginia quarterback Pat White has suddenly emerged as competition for Chad Henne as the heir apparent to Chad Pennington. White, who of course, was picked to direct the trendy "Wildcat" offense, taking over for RB Ronnie Brown, but GM Jeff Ireland made it clear that he is in the running at quarterback. However, his 6-foot, slight frame suggests otherwise, but still he is the Big East's all-time leading rusher with 4,480 yards (and multipurpose yards) at quarterback, not to mention a leader who has garnered MVP honors in his last three bowl-led victories. A closer look at the Dolphins' picks: Round 2/44 -- Pat White, QB/RB/WR, 6-0, 190, West Virginia...Despite comments to the contrary, the Dolphins cemented their commitment to enhancing the Wildcat formation with White taking over, or at least becoming a very strong second fiddle to RB Ronnie Brown's linchpin role. - by The Sports Xchange

 Draft Scout Pat White News
08/23/10 - QB Pat White is likely playing for his roster spot. Coach Tony Sparano said he doesn't expect White to play in Friday's game against the Falcons. He's currently fourth on the QB depth chart behind Chad Henne, Chad Pennington and Tyler Thigpen.
08/22/10 - QB Pat White didn't take a single snap in Saturday's 27-26 preseason win over Jacksonville. This came on the heels of White taking just three snaps – one handoff and two kneeldowns – in the preseason opener against Tampa Bay. Coach Tony Sparano said there are no plans to try White at other positions such as wide receiver or kick/punt returner. At this rate, White could be cut if Tyler Thigpen or Chad Pennington isn't traded.
07/31/10 - QB Pat White was on the field Saturday after missing the first day of training camp Friday, according to the Miami Herald's David J. Neal. That came after a report by the Sun-Sentinel that White would miss all of training camp and potentially the 2010 season with a non-football related issue described as serious.
07/31/10 - QB Pat White reported to the Dolphins' training camp Saturday and said he was a day late because he's "having personal issues." White said, "they've been handled. It is what it is, I'm happy to be back out here. thankful that I have people around me that care about people in general and just thankful that my teammates are here and we're working and moving on to the next level." White declined to specify what the issue is, but admitted he's going through a "rough patch." "Who doesn't," he said. "I mean, life has its ups and downs. I mean, I happy to be back out here and I'm happy to be playing football."
07/30/10 - QB Pat White (undisclosed) was placed on the non-football illness list.
