Draft Scout Albert Wilson News
08/31/15 - WR Albert Wilson suffered a sprained AC joint in his right shoulder in the preseason game against Tennessee and is unlikely to play in the finale against St. Louis. Wilson appeared slotted for the No. 2 receiver spot, but the injury may give rookie Chris Conley a chance to step into the role.
12/22/14 - WR Albert Wilson is closing out his rookie season with a bang, becoming one of Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith's favorite targets in the passing game. The undrafted Wilson was barely on the K.C. stat sheet after 12 games, with just four catches for 51 yards. But in the team's last three games, the product of Georgia State University has caught 12 passes for 209 yards, including catches of 22, 33 and 48 yards.
08/19/14 - WR Albert Wilson was held out of preseason game No. 2 against Carolina because of an ankle injury he suffered in the Chiefs' first game against Cincinnati. An undrafted rookie free agent out of Georgia State, Wilson has been traveling a path leading to a spot on the 53-man roster. Missing another opportunity to perform does not help his cause.
06/06/14 - WR Albert Wilson, an undrafted free agent, is catching the eye of the coaching staff. The 5-foot-9, 200-pound native of Port St. Lucie, Fla., produced 6,255 all-purpose yards in 42 college games, along with 26 touchdowns. As a receiver, runner and returner, he averaged 17.5 yards every time he touched the ball.
"We were surprised that he wasn't drafted because the kid can run," said Chiefs assistant head coach and wide receivers coach David Culley. "I remember him specifically running well at the (NFL) Combine (timed at 4.43 seconds in the 40-yard dash.) He came from Georgia State and it was a new program there and he did a great job against the competition that he had and he had a bunch of big plays. He's come in here and he's kind of caught our eye."
05/13/14 - Chiefs signs six rookie free agents: WR Albert Wilson - Georgia State (42 games in four years, 2010-2013)...175 receptions for 3,190 yards (18.2 avg) and 23 TDs...47 rushes for 331 yards (7.0 avg) and one TD. - Reid Ferrin, KCChiefs.com
